Internet showed it was open but it wasn't so I didn't get to try the food!

My husband and I always go to Cafe Nola. I recommend it to friends, and go with family. Even stayed in the hotel with my coworkers, But I was very disappointed here recently. My husband and I went there for dinner on Friday night (6/5) and we got there exactly at 8. (Would have been sooner but finished doing pictures around the circle)
They close at 9 so yeah I do 100% understand arriving at closing. So Friday night “open signs all around lit up” we walk in and we stand there waiting for a few mins no big deal and after a few mins a staff member comes out and asks have you been helped ? While a few staff members notice us before he came over. We said no not yet and he continued to say “I believe the kitchen is closed, let me check with another staff member. (mind you it is an hour before closing.) the other person comes out, apologizes, but says the kitchen is closed, But our bar is open.

I just find it a little upsetting that everywhere online it states open until 9 without saying kitchen closes at 8. Because if it did I wouldn’t have show up or waisted my time going there in the first place.

But I highly suggest going to Iron and Grape instead just right down the road from Cafe Nola, they were open and still took out order even at 810pm we were even out of the door at 9pm.

Our 6yr old received a surprise, that is part of a system one of the waitress came up with if I'm not mistaken. Everyone was great, and the food as well.

I lived in New Orleans for 7 years and enjoyed the food, music and culture. Visiting Cafe Nola Defyniak was an experience of nostalgia. So wonderful!

Had the Boudin Eggrolls, Shrimp Po Boy and Redfish Tacos with the Brownie A-la-mode for dessert. All the food tasted amazing and was served fresh. Would definitely eat here again, lots to try!

Attended a political meeting and greet at Cafe Nola.
Very nice place. Recommend for get together and personal dining as well. We had buffet style fried catfish, jambalaya and potato salad. I looked at the menu and discovered many items I would like to try.
