The food here is very good and portions I received in my take out were generous for my first time trying it. The oxtails with rice, candied yams and mixed greens were delicious. The sweet tea was refreshing, tasted fresh brewed and was not icky sweet like some other places. The owner was very welcoming. I would definitely return to this small unassuming location that is putting out some seriously delicious soul food.
This is my first time coming to Southern Palate but definitely not my last. Angie is amazing and really hooked me up. When I tell you my first bite of the candied yams, I was like THIS is candied yams. The collard greens was amazing. Rice was cooked to perfection, and the meat of the oxtail fell right off the bone. I washed this all down with sweet tea and I was so full after that meal. I honestly wanted to get more so I can try the mac n cheese, but my stomach wouldn’t allow me to. I instead went back in to get me some of that sweet potato pie for later. Wow, what a great dining experience. Thank you again.Also no pictures of what I ate because I just went in on that food. Time to get this nap in.
