“Augie Conde and I stopped at THE CITRUS PLACE on our trip home from St Petersburg last week. It's a really cool old school Florida souvenir shop and citrus market. It's located on route 301 just off of the first exit from the southbound side of the Sunshine Skyway bridge. It's owned by Trish and Carole. They were so kind and generous sharing some wonderful items and memories with us. We bought some vintage Florida souvenirs and some old citrus packing bags. We also bought tropical citrus jelly and marmalade. We'll be bringing the vintage items to the next FLORIDIANA FEST that will be held February 20-21 at the Sarasota Fairgrounds Potter Building. We're looking forward to seeing you there ! We'll definitely be back soon !“

“I was at the University and Lockridge Rd. Location today around 1:00 pm. As soon as I walked in the door I noticed it smelled fresh and clean. I was immediately greeted with a smile and welcome by both employees. My smoothie was delicious as always with all my customizations made perfectly. The store was bright and clean and very relaxing. “It's a great place with healthy smoothies that don't taste like grass with dirt and food that actually has flavor. The Cali chicken flat bread is my go to sandwich! I wish they would add a little more avocado spread. The smoothie is the Avocolada- avocado, kale, lime and I think banana. Even if you don't like kale or avocado I would definitely encourage you to try it.You can't ever go wrong with a super food that actually tastes good!“

“I and my family come here all the time, we love it. We moved here a year ago and have tried loads of other acaí places and this continues to be our favorite. We've met the owner a couple times and hes a sweetheart, the staff are kind and helpful and all the bases and fruits we've had have been so good! and the price isnt bad (about $11 a bowl) and I love the option for a small bowl so you dont have as much base and still get all the fruit and other toppings!“

“I drive all the way to this place from Ellenton, I go to the gym next door so it’s a bit of a destination spot but it is what I have been doing for years now.. although recently I have only been coming during the week days when Cannon is working and I will touch on why.

This place has come a long way, the new owners are really making the place feel more welcoming and like a place to hangout and get some work down or after a workout instead of a kick in and out.. the store is warm and inviting, great music always playing and they’re starting to carry better and better product. I really really enjoy the new vibe and Cannon the day time employee, soo much so I won’t come after he’s not working because the smoothies and the employees just dont have the same personality and electric energy as Cannon who remembers me, my order, even learned to swap in my chia seed and milk substitute after my first order.. he’s soo friendly and sweet it feels wrong if he isn’t there during my now (admittedly) daily ritual the shakes just come out wrong entirely or watery. He’s super honest and personable, prideful in his work.. I can’t ever tell if he’s flirting or if he’s just this intimate personable surf dude who’s high on life but he’s always happy to see me, I genuinely appreciate his talks he’s very very well educated and prevents any extra fruit syrups or fad like products he thinks sketchy or useless going into my drink and helped me with my diet upon finding out I was going fully vegan. I popped in this Saturday on a whim and it just wasn’t the same, my smoothie came out watery, the vibe was off, I think they used non vegan, and the place seemed much more stern and lacked his charm, music taste, and presence speaking to customers like family and doing it all with ease. I would love to change to five out of five but the weekend crew and night just isn’t the same, 5 stars for Cannon’s alchemy alone! I’ll be back to get my shake always and my daily philosophical chat and pick me up.“

“After dealing with BODYBAR, Tropical Smoothie felt like a breath of fresh air.
Let’s start with the good: Tropical Smoothie is consistently great. The staff is friendly, relaxed, and genuinely welcoming. Ordering is easy, the menu is clear, and there’s zero pressure or attitude. The smoothies are fresh, taste great, and actually feel worth the price. It’s one of those places where you walk out feeling better than when you walked in—energized, not irritated.
Now… BODYBAR was the complete opposite experience.
BODYBAR markets itself as a premium fitness studio, but the experience doesn’t match the branding or the price tag. While the workout itself can be effective, everything surrounding it feels unnecessarily stressful. Booking classes is a nightmare most time slots that work for normal schedules are constantly waitlisted, making the idea of “unlimited” access feel misleading at best.
The policies are rigid and unforgiving. Miss a class for any reason and you’re still charged, which quickly turns motivation into anxiety. Instead of feeling encouraged to show up, it feels like you’re walking on eggshells just to avoid fees.
Instructor quality is inconsistent, and transitions aren’t always clearly explained. For a place that positions itself as high-end, there were too many moments of confusion where you’re left copying others rather than being properly guided.
What really sealed it for me, though, was the attitude. The overall BODYBAR vibe comes off as snobby and unwelcoming. From the front desk to general interactions, there’s a sense that questions are an inconvenience and that you should already know how everything works. It doesn’t feel supportive or inclusive it feels cold.
The contrast was stark. Tropical Smoothie delivers exactly what it promises: good quality, fair pricing, friendly service, and a positive environment. BODYBAR, on the other hand, delivers a decent workout wrapped in stress, confusing logistics, and an off-putting attitude.
One of these places makes you want to come back. The other makes you relieved when it’s over.“

“Neat health food spot offering smoothies, salads, wraps, sandwiches, & smoothie bowls. Perfect for a post workout meal or light refreshing snack. I tried their Tequesta Dragon bowl with a very delicious dragonfruit base for the smoothie portion & tons of fresh berries on top with granola blended in between. The portions were pretty reasonable and the preparation was quick. In and out service is always the best. The staff was very friendly and had some great recommendations.“

They do have a small outdoor porch to sit enjoy your shake, smoothie, or ice cream. If you like quaint little shops, check this place out.“
