Baxter's Restaurant

Went to Baxter,s for our 40th anniversary. Was told they had the best steaks on island, they do hands down! Fantastic restaurant great food, impeccable service. Dennis was wonderful, could not ask for a more thoughtful server.

The petite fillet was melting your mouth fantastic! But on the other hand, what they call French onion soup is not French onion soup there was rosemary in it. Oh yes, I tasted the rosemary. I make a wicked good the best in town French onion soup, I couldn’t taste any wine Or cognac., I was so looking forward to that.

This restaurant definitely surprised me. Its been around a minute for sure and the booths could use some love, my mom could barely reach her food on the table, etc.. but the food. Nothing short of amazing. Escargot, baked brie, lamp and the sizzling steak, just wow. Absolutely perfect. We will definitely be back.

I took my friends to dinner and could not have been more disappointed. The 14 oz ribeye steak for $49 were both so small and well done it was unacceptable. I don’t believe it was 14 oz because it was so well done. We returned and because one of the guests got a NY strip that was very good w reordered the strip….. It was not the sa,e and it was thin, not medium rare, and not good. We decided to go somewhere that offered authentic deserts and were pleasantly surprised at the Lagniappe. Service and deserts were excellent and I wished I had spent ,y $300+ there for dinner…Baxters meat may be angus but is is not prime, or even choice meat, if you k ow the difference. Will never go there again.

I had the 14 oz ribeye steak… full of flavor, tender, and juicy. The vegetable medley was the same.. seasoned to perfection! Then I topped it off with some cheesecake. Phenomenal food!

This place has an old vintage charm atmosphere. At the bar you almost expect to see Dean Martin sitting there. The staff is on top of things. The food is great. My wife had steak diane and I had the eggplant. Both were wonderful. We also had fried green tomatoes and shrimp as an appetizer... very good. Love this place!

The food was fantastic. The service from Susan was fantastic. The atmosphere...it could use a refresh for sure.

I'm not sure what these other reviews are talking about with regards to the steaks being chewy. I had a medium NY Strip and it was perfect. My wife had a filet and man if was melt in your mouth.

This is a two-star spot at best. The white tablecloths can’t hide that it’s coasting on a long-gone reputation. Steaks were cooked to temperature but they were chewy, Alfredo pasta was bland, and service was poor. Our waitress vanished for 30 minutes after dropping off the food and ignored issues until pressed more directly. We had a better steak at Lagniappe down the road — and they’re not even a steakhouse. Save your money and go elsewhere - trust me.

The service was great. Our waitress, Susan, was checking on us & always filling our drinks when we needed it. The Mozzarella sticks were pretty good. Bread was a little tough, but still pretty good. Barbecue wings were pretty good. I asked for a medium ribeye and it wasn’t as pink as a medium steak is, but it was still pretty good. Both of the other 12 ounce steaks were good and pretty pink. Other steaks and lobsters we got were great as well as the other food. Very filling food.

Big menu, great food, outstanding service, the only negative was we could hear one song from the kitchen being played over and over the whole time we were seated it became annoying. Our service was very nice and accommodating, I recommend the lobster and fettuccine.

Visiting from out of state and decided to try Baxters. I ordered the filet, my cousin ordered steak and lobster. All were cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. Our waitress Autumn was so welcoming and helpful. We had a wonderful experience at Baxters

Nice hometown restaurant
1st time. Steak medallions with mushroom Diane sauce. Excellent meat

,temp. Not as tender as could be . Bartender excellent service and made a good recommendation for me.
If I'm here again I WILL return
