We loved the Mermaid bar! David was a fantastic bartender! We loved hearing all his stories. He really made it the best bar experience on the island with a welcoming vibe! We will be back next time on vacation!

We loved Florida house Inn. First time to Amelia island and will def be back. Classy town with great shops , food and things to do. Very clean in and small complimentary breakfast Daily. Brunch was great and perfectly located with restaurants and shops right outside your door and a brewery/band right beside us. Restaurant closed during the week but plenty of choices everywhere. It can be alittle loud but great music during the evening. Very safe area and super nice people here.

Wonderful property perfectly located in the center of Fernandina Beach. Given that this is the oldest hotel in all of Florida, it is a shame to see it so disrespected by current owners There were so many little and easily fixable issues that they are impossible to list. When we arrived to our room, we were greeted by a full tiny bathroom trash can (the only one in the room) and a toilet seat so wobbly that we had to hang on for dear life until we had it fixed (which they did right away). This made us wonder how clean the room was given how obvious those issues were. The water flow in the shower was meager, alternating from mild hot to cold to shutting off completely mid-shower. The minor repairs and painting are shoddy and show no sense of pride. They advertise two bars and a restaurant, but none of those is open during the week. Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:30 in a sitting room. One the first day, we were treated to French toast that was ice cold and left on an uncovered platter in a public space. On the other two days we were treated to yogurt and storebought quiche and cinnamon rolls. We made our own coffee in a Keurig. We were also surprised that there were no service visits to our room. So plan to empty your own teeny trash can and reuse your bath towels. Despite these issues, I wouldn’t advise avoiding this hotel. It is a very charming place. Prospective guests should go in with their eyes open regarding its shortcomings and hope that the owners read reviews like this one and invest a wee bit of cash to improve the guest experience.

The location was great. The room was very nice, but the bathroom was smaller than a phone booth. The bath tub was behind a curtain in front of the bed, and the john and tiny sink were pretty much in a small closet! It was also very noisy with trash/recycle colection every morning about seven am. And when we checked out there was nobody at the desk, so we were unable to get a receipt. I enjoyed our stay, but I doubt if I would stay there again. Sorry.

Really nothing more to add to what previous posters have already said. So just keep in mind it is an old historic property that is a little quirky and funky. For instance, there was a claw bathtub in our tiled shower (room #9). My wife and I stayed for 3 nights during the holidays and found the Inn a good value but be prepared for annoyances. The band next door playing live music till 10 or 11 at night could really be a turn off if you are not aware of this issue when you book. (by the way---it was a very good band!) There is convenient free parking behind the Inn so you can park your car and walk anywhere downtown Fenandina Beach. Wi-Fi is erratic and really not dependable. This place has lots of potential but just needs some TLC.

Great location, nice room , town full of friendly people. It’s downhill at the Inn. Coffee dispenser was inoperative both mornings of our visit. Complimentary continental breakfast at 8:30 was a non event and too long to wait for coffee. We found Amelia Island coffee this morning just around corner. WiFi is nonexistent except in common inside areas. Excellent bands outdoor at bar next door till 11 if that suits you, otherwise they are so loud you would think they are in the room with you. If room was 150 a night I might be able to overlook some of this. Intimate inside hotel bar with no Chardonnay both nights after they promised to restock. All blame was placed on the regular bartender who took the weekend off for the pétanque championship being held downtown

Hidden gem! Awesome low key bar with a one of a kind bartender, Paul and his barback Ruth. Couldn't ask for better drinks or company. Highly recommend! Can't believe we hadn't found this place sooner. Thanks Paul and Ruth for the great conversation, we will be back soon!
