Southport Raw Bar & Restaurant

Definitely a straightforward local Bar and Restaurant but they get seafood right. No frills but definitely choose this place over the “fancier” places around it for real local seafood. The Old Bay Shrimp is served wet, which was surprising, but amazing. Happy Hour has a $10 pitcher and a few decent food options, but stay for dinner.

Parking: Parking is tight, so get there early.

Came on an adventure all the way from Doral seeking a new raw bar, where in the mood for some oysters and crab legs. Found this precious gem, they have been open for 50 Years, looking amazing for 50!

Yes. I’ve eaten here so many times over the past 10+ years I forget to take a pic and review. This time I remembered while half a sandwich is left. We both had mahi mahi sandwiches and shared a conch chowder.

What a trip down memory lane, let me explain. Way back in 1992, I used to live in this area, and the Southport Raw Bar was my local comfort place for a bit to eat and a few drinks.
Back in the day, my favorite was the blackened chicken sandwich and piping hot fries with an ice-cold beer.
Over the years, if I was in Ft. Lauderdale, I would make it a point of stopping by reminiscing of the old days. Fast forward 24 years, and the place is still as fun as ever. Still great food, ice-cold beers, and great atmosphere.
The bar has been here 50 years and I think the ownership has changed once in that time, yet it's still the same bar I used to frequent as a very young man in my early 20's.

I thought the service was below par. Two of had finished our meas. Our third member never received theirs. French fries and Cole claw never appeared. When we asked our server where the reat of our order was. She said that the cook was on break. We cancelled the rest of our order, paid, and left.
