Not a place I will rerurn to. The hot and sour soup was extremely sour, vinegary to the extreme. The summer rolls had hair. The broccoli and pork sauce was overpowering. The service was lacking. The view is amazing.

As a regular customer of Chopstix for over 20 years, I've had many frustrating visits. The food is often good and my personal complaints have to do with indifferent and slow service. Today was no different except with a sprinkle of rudeness. In all of my experiences at Chopstix, I've NEVER had an excellent experience. I've been ok with that until today.
What made today different was I met a few friends for lunch which brought our party to five. We ostensibly had two parties so requested two checks. Many times, I just gloss over the bill and add a 15ish-% tip, rounded up. However , I noticed there was an automatically added 20% tip (for five parties or more). I think there's an issue here. Serious issue. A 20% tip is for excellent service, an experience I've never experienced here.
I had a brief discussion with my friends outside and we all agreed the service today was subpar and not worthy of such a tip.
After over 20 years of patronage, it's disappointing to see such a policy shift. I think it's time to avoid Chopstix for a while, perhaps permanently, due to this enforced tipping policy. I'm not ok with this now and can't see a situation where it ever will be acceptable to me. I wish this local company the best success in the future, but I won't be a part of it.

The food was good, we had the fried curry wonton's, and spring rolls for appetizers. The spring rolls were delicious(not greasy), lite and well balanced. The curry wontons were good but not memorable. I truly enjoyed the Pad Thai , I wish it had more scallions because it's just brown on brown. I didn't get much scrambled egg. That was disappointing.

Awful experience! My daughter raved about this place, she comes here often.... only for her to bring us (her family) here and have to wait and entire hour for 2 noodle bowls and a 4 seasons dish! We watched everyone in the restaurant who came in at the same time and later get appetizers and entire meals while my children and I sat for 55 min waiting until we finally left! Not to mention, we waited 20 min in the parking lot for them to open back up at 4pm from their break! The whole time, nobody checked in to see what the hold up was. Terrible, no thank you!
This is the first Facebook review I’ve ever written, and I wish it were for something positive — but this place was just that bad. I don’t usually go out of my way to leave reviews, but after the experience we had here, I felt like I had to say something. The customer service was absolutely awful. We interacted with four employees during our visit, and two of them were outright rude — not just dismissive, but actively unpleasant to deal with. As for the food? I genuinely don’t know how they served what they did with a straight face. It was nearly impossible to eat — dry, bland, and completely flavorless. It honestly felt like no effort was put into it at all. This was a total waste of money and time. Do yourself a favor and eat literally anywhere else. There are too many great restaurants out there to spend your money on an experience like this.
Very unwelcoming and unpleasant staff.
I was excited to try the Chopstix Cafe. The menu looked great and it was convenient to the east side of Gainesville. We arrived shortly after 4:00, when they are scheduled to open. There was no one at the hostess station, so we sat in the dining room, as close to the station as possible. There was only one other occupied table. No one came to serve us, however a couple of employees arrived and became occupied with the cash register. At 4:20, I asked at the register if the restaurant was open. The (senior) woman became belligerent, asking if I had seated myself in the dining room. I explained “yes”, because there was no one at the hostess station. The woman insisted she had been at the register (since they had opened) in a “snotty” tone and manner, as if we were invisible to each other, and I had fraudulently entered the dining room. I told her we were going elsewhere, “thank you”, to which, rather than trying to salvage the conversation and the sale, she responded simply “then go somewhere else”. Bye! We had heard the service was poor but the food was good. We regret we never made it that far. We won’t be back and suggest Chop Stix Cafe be avoided until the senior cashier/trainer/whatever bad example she is, is gone.
I cannot say enough good things about Chopstix. The food is so good and you can tell everything is fresh. The service is always friendly and efficient. We often celebrate big events here and last night we celebrated my husband's 60th birthday in the private dining room. I was so busy running around talking to our 18 guests that I just asked Titi Le to order appetizers for the crowd, whatever. She asked a few questions and brought out exactly enough (not too much which many places would have done from that request to boost the bill) and a good variety to keep us having a great time until our food came. We all enjoyed our meal-lots of 'Wow, taste this,' heard around the tables. Our orders were all correct as were our individual checks, which is often not the case with big parties. The most fun part of the evening was when they surprised my husband with dessert and a fun version of the happy birthday song accompanied by a gong. I didn't realize that our party was running late, but we were never hurried or asked to leave. If you have a fun occasion to celebrate CALL CHOPSTIX CAFE!
I have heard about this restaurant for many years from my grandparents and I decided I wanted to go. My daughter took me here for Valentine’s Day. When I say the food was absolutely delicious I mean just that. Well worth the money and we will be coming back. Oh and thank you to the greeter she was soooo nice and welcoming and TT our waitress was absolutely amazing.
The food was so delicious and the staff did very well with our big group. I highly recommend this place.

We enjoyed celebrating our wedding anniversary here. This restaurant’s conveniently located close to downtown Gainesville, yet right by the water to enjoy spectacular views and many birds and alligators. We enjoyed our food. The only negative was that the place overcharged on both entrees, drinks and appetizer by $2-5 on each dish, saying that they had to increase the prices and didn’t have time to print up new menus.

The food here was decent but overpriced. They do charge an extra $1 for a side of Spicy mayo, which is normally complementary with your order.
What I found was most unpleasant about our experience was the smell in the building. It smelled of kitty litter/cat pee.
Our table rocked hugely, and the entire restaurant felt dirty (you couldn’t touch the handrails. They were super greasy). Also, service was slow and refills were not abundant. Once they left you with food it was hard to get anyone to come back.
I was there for my nephew’s birthday at his request but I don’t think I could choose to go back there for anything on my own.

Incredible food. Wonderful atmosphere and patio overlooking a nice lake. Service and staff are excellent. Because I moved, JD, the owner, hadn't seen me in roughly a decade, yet he still remembered me and my favorite dish. Highly recommend Chopstix - especially the Chop Chay, which can be a hard dish to find.
