Used to love this place; and used to dine here very often for years. However; the magic is gone.

First Diego left, and then the girl whose name I can’t recall left too. They used to make us feel so welcomed… always making friendly conversation, bringing more bread, offering lemoncello…. Little details that add to a great experience and that made us ignore certain things like food not being very consistent or being a little overpriced.

I feel like I am mourning the Il Mercato I loved and its great former atmosphere :(

My family of 4 went to an early dinner at il Mercato and we loved it! We have 2 little babies so we went right at 5 when they opened and had the entire place to ourselves! The food was amazing and the service was fast and friendly! They even gave us complimentary limoncello and gelato which we haven’t had since our honeymoon in Italy! Loved it and would recommend it to everyone 10/10 :)

Small and out of the way with inside and outdoor seating this is a great place If you want consistently great food make this your go to restaurant.. Fabulous salads....and pasta that will make each bite better and better. Daily specials and sinful desserts...you need reservations.

Went there based on a recommendation of my friend Yaniv who dined there “at least a 100 times”
I could really see a huge potential for the place, too bad that they fall on “small” things that eventually shape your over all experience.

1. I haven’t had Asparagus in a while, was excited to have it with my lamb chops but they didn’t have any, even though it is all over their Google photos.
2. Ordered a risotto with at least 4 different veggies. Received it with the only veggie that wasn’t listed on the menu - chunks of tomatoes.
Extremely unprofessional, they re-did it for me, but why not doing it the right way from the beginning?? Had to wait additional 15 min for my food to be “fixed”
3. Asked if the Brussels sprouts were deep fried.
A waiter with common sense will understand that I don’t want a grissy dish. It was “grilled” but soaked in grissy oil, brown, dead Brussels sprouts.
4. I went to an Italian restaurant, after a busy day at work, to relax, have some good wine and good food. I trusted the place and asked for a glass of Malbec without seeing the menu. A professional restaurant will bring the bottle to the table and pour it. I got an anonymous glass of cheap wine, the sour kind that will give you a headache. I had one sip and didn’t drink the rest. What a disappointment. Of course they didn’t take it off the bill and I paid.
5. Above my head was a Huge T.V blasting a football game . It was a torture. I already had them re-making the risotto and didn’t want to complain more. I felt like my head was going to explode. I asked them to pack the rest of the food and ate it cold at home because I couldn’t suffer another min in that terrible noise. Are you an Italian restaurant or an American sport Bar???

I gave two stars and not one because the lamb chops were fresh and tasty, the risotto was good once re-made, and the side of Zuccini was delicious, I wish they gave more that 4 small slices. Also the stuff was nice, they did try to accommodate and they were kind.

I would have loved to go there again because I can see how good this restaurant *Could* be, but after paying $60 for such a poor experience it was unfortunately my first and last time.

Cozy cafe with German/Italian ambience. Welcoming and attentive staff. Starters and entrees delicious, but not too heavy. Chocolate creme dessert delectable. Wish they had pizza!

I go to Il Mercato every time I’m in Hallandale (a few times a year). They never fail to deliver. Delicious Italian home cooked food. A very cozy interior or a small exterior courtyard dining. The wait staff have been with them since years and they are efficient, friendly and attentive. The food is always on the mark, delicious tomato sauce to accompany the dishes, fresh pasta for some of the plates.Be sure to ask about the daily menu. The three brothers in the kitchen work together with timing and they love cooking. The owners are a wonderful couple who obviously love the business. Thanks Mercato and see you next time.

Dietary restrictions: I can’t eat dairy and once upon a mushroom ravioli, I ordered them without asking and with my first bite realized they had cheese mixed in with the mushrooms, they changed my dinner within minutes.Like any good restaurant they accommodate restrictions.
