The Hotel Bar - At Diplomat Beach Resort

Filthy rooms and extremely expensive food without delivering high value. (Bonus: See photos below for the poop smear on the wall) Unless The Diplomat gets their stuff together, this is an absolute never again for me. I was texting with the front desk staff for more than 24 hours before I got someone to address my problem. That wasn’t before I found hair in the bed that I slept in, Poop smeared on the wall, Dust on every surface, Hair stuck to the coffee machine, in the refrigerator in the room. I thought to myself when I arrived, “i think I’ll make some tea and relax a little bit before my conference start starts”. I ran Hot water through the coffee machine and it came out a disgusting yellow color with sediment in it. Mind you- we pay $50+ dollars per day to park here, mandatory 20% gratuity on everything you buy at the bar, and mandatory resort fee. Where is that money going? It’s definitely not to cleaning supplies for the rooms. Every staff member along the way has dropped the ball- it’s not statistically possible for as many “accidents” or “oversights” to occur in a two day stay. The Diplomat staff basks in low achievement and doing the absolute least while commanding a premium price. We had a server for dinner (can’t remember her name) African American middle aged lady working the night of 11/14 in the bar/lounge area. She made our table feel guilty for asking questions about the menu and scolded us when we offered a credit card instead of a room number when we placed our order- like she was angry we were even there. $96 for steak frites and one drink with a MANDATORY 20% tip. Why give good service when you can treat people like children and get 20%? 4oz of steak by the way and a MOUND of store bought fries. Are you kidding me? In an age where Hospitality is dying, The Diplomat has been cold and dead a long time. Do not stay here- there’s plenty of other places to waste your money.Oo

Concierge were awesome a lady from Yorkshire, UK. The garden team however pants. The weekends it’s full of rowdy South American families that book in to use the facilities, then they tell me to move off the grass. You couldn’t make it up. Prices for drinks ridiculous and I’ve stayed at some of the best 5 star hotels. For sure I won’t be going back.

After changing my checkout date, but somebody in person at the front desk told me I will not be charged an early checkout fee two days later the fee shows up on my credit card, not only that the place was dirty way overpriced and staff was not friendly. I do not recommend this resort and I definitely will not be going back after being in Hilton Honors member since 2007 i called five times and noone can help me. Beware

We had THE best service from Leah who made sure our 30th wedding anniversary trip was extra special. The bar is beautiful and newly renovated - a lovely spot to sit and relax after a day at the beach. We shared a yummy bananas foster in the peaceful atrium. Would definitely come again.

Friend is in town visiting so we met for a drink at the only bar in the hotel. Drinks were decent, but bar closes at midnight. Liked that there was a mangrove tree and other plants growing right with in the bar area.

Valet is incredibly expensive at $41 for the first hour and $10 each hour after. There is a paid parking garage directly across the street with a walkway bridge connecting to garage to the hotel entrance.

Strage charges to my credit card and no answer

Beware - the hotel/resort is undergoing major renovations. One pool is closed, main hotel lobby and lobby bar are closed, noisy construction taking place both inside and outside. **There is no mention of this on the website!!!! Very unhappy guest here. I was offered upgrade room at no charge thinking the upgrade was compensation for the inconvenience, construction, noise, etc (I am a repeat guest), only to be Upcharged at time of departure and told “too bad upgrades aren’t free.” Incredibly poor guest service. I won’t be back.

Shawnee and Marcus are the BEST!!! They are friendly, welcoming, accommodating and PROFESSIONAL. The food was EXCELLENT. They take the time to answer any questions you may have. Always have a smile. I have to say these two were the ONLY good experience I had at this so called RESORT. Much thanks to Shawnee and Marcus. Love the Party of 5

Great drinks and atmosphere - the level of service is everything you could want and more - staff go above and beyond. Definitely a great place to stop by after dinner!

Good food, awful service. It essentially is just a bar but if you sit at the table they will come up and take your order and put it on a tab. After we ordered food they delivered it and ignored us the rest of the night. I would've liked another soda but I couldn't get ahold of anyone so I just went without. The potstickers were pretty good. I liked the bacon cheeseburger and the chicken sliders are decent (though the portions are small). They give you a ton of fries so it makes up for it. A decent drink selection (It is a bar of course).

At night they have live music playing, including a saxophonist who played to a backing track and was very good. It was a fun dining experience but I spent $100 for two meals and an appetizer and the gratuity was shoved in there even though the service was awful.

THE PLACE IS COOL .. THE DRINK HOWEVER WAS WATERDOWN... I DIDN'T FEEL ANY ALCOHOL IN IT... NOT SURE WHAT PROPORTIONS THEY USE... BUT FOR A $20 DRINK YOU EXPECT A BIT
