We wandered in because we love Pilar and happened to get there right before the 11 o’clock distillery tour. It’s $60 for the tour with five tastings and you get a bottle at the end! Indiana was super knowledgeable and went above and beyond with our kids (free to join tour) making them their own little kid-friendly tastings at each stop. We had a great time!

I absolutely love this place. Best rum you will have (after Ron abuelo!). Highly recommend if you’re in Key West!!!! 🩷🩷🩷

As usual, the rum is superb but the angry bartender completely ruined the atmosphere. Been coming here for 20 + years and miss grouchy certainly gives me second thought of visiting the bar. Go to the tour and enjoy the great gifts to purchase. I can get better service and atmosphere at another bar.

What a great stop. It was a fun stop. Lots of interesting tidbits of information during the tour from Indiana and Hurricane. And some smooth rum. Haven't had our rum cake, but it smells great.

I'm not going to lie it was super expensive. I got like four small shots and a key lime daiquiri and I think that was like $50. I was honestly shocked. BUT the person working there put me on to the royal red shrimp at the restaurant around the corner, which was literally the best part of my trip. So it was worth it in the end. Also, it led me to an excursion on a sailboat with like six other people to go to the sandbars, which was also amazing. That's the great thing about Key west. The locals tell you what to do and you do it. But seriously, this was a vibe.

Decent rum but to be clear this rum is mainly produced offshore and blended here. The price is right. The tour guide claimed that the term “shot” comes from sailors trading their daily allotted rum for lead shot. There’s no historical evidence for this nor does it make any sort of logical sense. Why would a sailor need to provide/purchase their own lead shot for defense of their ship? It’s lunacy. They also advised a guest that a still underway is of no risk of fire or explosion which of course is wrong and really silly claim to make. Alcohol vapor is extremely flammable. Am I quibbling? Maybe but it was a paid tour with an expected gratuity. If I want to be lied to I can go to Reddit. The bar around back was cool and very chill.

Granted I’m all for fanciful tales and whimsy but that’s hardly what was on offer.

Hemingway lived a pretty raucous and unbelievable life. This really doesn’t live up to that. The stories on the conch train do better by his memory.

Bruce was our tour guide and all we can say is he did an amazing job! His knowledge in the rum distilling is fantastic and was one of our favorite experiences down in Key West!!
Thank you so much Bruce

The six string punch might be the best drink I've ever had, even if we called it G String punch on accident when we ordered πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I have been fortunate enough to tour distilleries in Ireland, Scotland, and all over the United States. I must say I believe this was the most enjoyable tour I have taken.. my tour leader. Nikki did a wonderful job. I was very impressed with the rum and the tremendous amount of effort that they have put in every detail.

Also equally important they have a wonderful bar/speakeasy or you can get the best professionally made mixed drinks at the most reasonable price in Key West. The bar itself is beautiful dark cool with many interesting things to look at. Don’t miss the stop in Key West schedule your tour now..

I was skeptical about going to the distillery, I don't drink a lot of rum, however it was a blast. We skipped the tour and went right to the elegant bar in the back. Gil and Gary (Rum Mixologists) were outstanding. They guided us on what to try and then provided information about the brand and certain cocktails that were a hit. Make sure to stop at this place and visit the bar.

The Rye and Sherry finished rums were perfect for us. The Sherry finished rum was spectacular in their version of an old fashion.

Took the 2pm tasting tour. I loved Lola as our guide. She was definitely fun and personable. The tour was short (it’s only two rooms) but the information was very interesting.
The tasting was wonderful. We got to try the blond rum, dark rum, the rye, and a blend of blond and dark. Very tasty and well worth the price especially when you realize you get a bottle of blond or dark rum (your choice). On top of that, when you sign up for the social club, you get a token for a free cocktail (or $5 off)!
I do strongly recommend this one!
