Stopped here on a whim yesterday with our 10 year old grandson. The smell of BBQ was amazing as you walked in the front door. We were greeted immediately by staff and found a table easily. Our server was friendly and attentive. The menu is large, and while it is often difficult for me to find things to eat, because I am vegan and gluten free...there was a beautiful salad available. My husband and grandson had the ribs, baked beans, Cole slaw and fries. They were very happy. The food, service and atmosphere were great. We will definitely be back again.

I've been going here for years and to the Sarasota spot before this one. Normally I'm a big fan particularly of the Swine^2 (Squared) but today's experience was lackluster at best. Its Memorial Day as well as someones birthday. We attempted to first call 3x and no one answered. Even tried the older number online still x2 and still got no answer. Figured they may be closed for Memorial Day so I went to their Facebook to check. Saw that around 5:30pm "online ordering" was suspended for the day citing "high volume." No biggie, I live close so went over to order in person. Not only was there no one in line when I arrived but restaurant was maybe 25% full? Spent minutes ordering yet by the time I finished only one other customer had entered behind me. They have a Monday Special of 5.99 for pulled pork or chicken sandwich but now added with marker on the signs the deal is dine in only. When asked half jokingly if we could still get the deal as I was ordering 2 pulled pork sandwiches w the rest of my meals they asked a manager who was unfriendly about it. Frankly I should've just bought a drink, sat down, and got a to go box as I was tipping anyhow... but rules are rules as stupid as they can be, I get that. Being polite isn't difficult though especially when the deal is unclear and the signs have been edited after printing... ended up with my Swine^2 still + some pork trays and sandwiches for family. The BBQ as well as sides of red potatoes, collared green, and cornbread were all "meh" at best this evening too... It's just disappointing to see one of you're favorite spots underperforming though I guess. ?

It was my first time there. I was in town for the day and I stopped in for lunch. I had the pulled pork sandwich. I was expecting it to come with a lot of barbecue sauce already on it, but there's a lot of sauce at the table so you can put as much as you like on it. Next time I'm in town will probably stop back in and try something else.

One of the few places where I should have listened to the reviews. Ordered non-marbled brisket. Was room temp, dry and tough. Only way I was able to eat some of it was to drench it in the BBQ sauce, which was decent. Mac n’ cheese side was crusty. Seems like the food had been sitting there for a few hours. I ate a few of the pieces of brisket and 2 bites of the mac n' cheese and threw the rest away. Won’t return and I don’t recommend this place. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because I liked the BBQ sauce

Have eaten there many times, and every time we go we say we’re not going back, but tried it again tonight . Brisket was dry, tough & chewy. Very disappointed, again. Too expensive for the quality. Won’t go again

I always seemed to come in after dark but the staff didn't seem to mind. Food was tasty and arrived quickly. Restaurant is a little rustic but I think its suppose to be. Indoor seating as well as outdoor seating by a parking lot. After dark I still didn't see any riff raff hanging out in the parking lot so that was good. I have to agree with another review. The greens either didn't have bacon or it was...nope I didn't see any. I thought the food was good both times I ate here but keep in mind I'm not a serious BBQ guy. Might want to read other reviews.

Got the old reliable pulled pork sandwich. Fantastic without the bbq sauce. Even better with it. Great service at the bar. They have daily specials. The fry’s are also excellent with the bbq sauce.

First, we have frequented the old Nancy’s location in downtown Sarasota. For the most part we were mostly satisfied with our visits. So, we decided that we would give the Lakewood Ranch location a try.We arrived and this location is attempting to portray a “bar-b-que rustic” vibe. Nope, too confusing with no lighting thoughts, design ideas and confusing rustic with neglect. This is not working. But, ok lets overlook this and place our food order and judge the location by its quality of the eats! Ribs for my wife and me and a pulled pork sandwich for our guest. The food arrived in a timely fashion and by our very competent server. (I am sorry that I can’t remember his name) The food looked great on the plate and we were keen to dig in!!This is where the “wheels fall off”! The ribs were so tough and way to fatty! As Clara once said: “Where’s the meat?” I was at war trying to first chew off the bones! The next challenge was trying to separate the meat from the fat. More fat and less meat was discovered. Got through about half of them and I had to surrender! My wife got through about 5 bones and she too surrendered to the tough meat and fat!! My guest said his pulled pork sandwich was very good however. We shared our complaint with our server and he was looking at the fatty bones and wholeheartedly concurred with our complaint. He called for the manager. The manager arrived and was sympathetic and cooperative to this situation. He removed the 2 rib orders from our bill and we settled and headed out. Thank you for the “No Argument” position and dealing with this in such a fashion. On our way out, we notified and we were struck at the storage door open at the main entrance and just how dirty the entrance was and how dishevelled the area was. This explains why the rest of what we saw inside was “the way it was”!No paper in the men’s bathroom, torn artwork and the general state of the location makes it very clear at just how poorly managed this establishment is!! (It should be noted I am in the hospitality business for 23 years and operate an 18,000 square foot establishment). My final thoughts for consideration: NO, I/we will never return to this location. Too many negatives and not enough positives. Bad management, dirty and awful food. 2 of the 3 of us left hungry!

First time trying this BbqWas terrible. The brisket looked like though London broil. Shoe leather.was not even Brisket. The pulled pork was okay. But for $25 2 small portions of meat side green beans drinks The green beans had long pieces of onions in them. Kids running through the dining room into the kitchen. Being from Atlanta. I quess I’ll only eat bbq there.

We are from about an hour away but in direct area for a sports tournament with our daughter. We love BBQ and excited to stop after all day at a sports tournament. It was not busy at all, but it was mid afternoon on a Saturday. Waitress was fast to serve us. Food came out fast. Inside decor was great and perfect for BBQ setting. But, small dixie size glasses of water. She did not come by to refill. We had to ask a few times. I ordered the pulled chicken on tray with 1 side. Had to order one side. Place only has 2 sauces - sweet or chiptole. I went with sweet and ok. Chicken was chopped on tray and hot - decent. Sides were BBQ beans and Edamame succotash. The sides were the best part. No bread to go with the meal that you expect at BBQ places. Daughter ordered the pulled chicken sandwich. A little bit of meat sandwiched in a cheap hamburger bun. She had the mac and cheese side that was just ok. Disappointed. Now, Husband had the pulled chicken taco. Again, little bit of meat in 2 flour tacos. No stuff that comes with tacos like salsa or lettuce or cheese. Cheap. He is a big BBQ fan and was not impressed with the 2 sauces. His side was the au gratin which were very good. Bottom line: atmosphere is good, service was good...sauces disappointing, chicken sandwich and taco were very disappointing. Sides were good. But, you all don't go to a BBQ place for the sides.

Went to Nancys in Lakewood Ranch on SR 70 on Jan 23 for dinner. Mac and cheese was cold and tube noodles were used. Cheese was like milk. Brisket was fatty and cold. Pulled pork was barely warm and chunks of fat. One waitress for the whole place. Hot link sausage was cold and mushy. We will not go back.

Surprisingly good BBQ. Enjoyed the pulled pork plate with baked beans and slaw. Generous helping of pork. Well smoked and seasoned. We also tried the brisket sandwich and brisket tacos. Happy customers all round. Fried pickles made a tasty and novel appetizer. Two in-house sauces. We liked the Chipotle best. Also liked the quotes on the ceiling.

Stopped in for a quick Saturday lunch. Thankfully we sat at the bar, because the rest of the place was a mad house with families playing a soccer tournament at Premier sports park. Service was good, food was good, marbled brisket sandwich and a Sloppy Jim, with a couple of cold beers.

Very disappointed in their service today. I understand that a restaurant can get busy, but I put in an online order and was notified that my order would be ready to pick up at 12:44. I go into the restaurant to pick it up, and after telling two different staff members I was there to pick up my order I proceeded to be ignored by SEVEN staff members who were all either right in front of me or working around me fulfilling other orders. I legit started to think I was invisible, I was being ignored so completely. Two different people came in and put in an order to go at the restaurant and got their orders before I did. I had to wait a full 25 MINUTES to finally get someone to START my order, after I told them I had been there for that long. It took a total of 30 minutes PAST when THEY SAID my order would be ready to be given my order, and I didn’t get so much as an apology for the wait. I don’t care how good the food is, you don’t treat people like that. Simply awful service.
