I was completely disappointed in today’s experience. We came in early to have a cocktail and watched the sunset before we got a table for dinner. When asked the hostess said there’s no room but you can walk out there and try. We did sit at the couches and waited 15 min as the waitress came in and out several times and looked at us. I finally went up to her and she gave me an attitude and said we don’t wait on this section. Why couldn’t you tell me that the first five times you looked at me sitting there. We left and definitely decided not to have dinner there. Service is terrible use to be so much better and attentive to all guests. Will not be back!

5 start atmosphere. our server, Alyssa (spelling?) was too busy talking with a single woman at a nearby table to check on our order. my medium well filet was not ordered by her( she brought out a LG knife in advance). she did not notice until after the other 4 at our table were eating... too busy talking with that other person. she ordered it and 25 minutes later ( after everyone else was done)a very well done , burned piece of steak that was cut in half to cook faster came out. Terrible taste and texture, not like the other steaks at our table. the check came and added an extra salad bar($27) and $5 for a plain baked potato that she said was no charge instead of the mashed potatoes... she corrected the overage. if she would have paid attention to serving and not chatting with someone it would been much better. we were planning on going there in 2 weeks with a group of 10.. I canceled those plans, we are going somewhere else!!

Very nice restaurant with fantastic views. Seems like a local hangout around the bar. The place is huge with plenty of seating. Jason was are server and took good care of us. The food was tasty. We especially enjoyed the crab cake appetizer and the chilled bowl chop salad. Prices fair for location and what we had. We will return!

First time dining, we didn’t have reservations but got a high top in the bar area, Max was our server. Great service, food was excellent and a nice atmosphere for having conversations.
View from our table was great considering we were at the back of the bar, will be back and make reservations for the main dining area.

The view is nice, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. We dined here for Christmas Eve dinner and were extremely disappointed.
The meal started poorly with bread for the table that was rock hard and clearly stale. It felt like low-quality, reheated bread rather than something freshly prepared.
We ordered the calamari as an appetizer, and it was genuinely awful—the worst calamari I’ve ever had. It was worse than frozen grocery-store calamari, yet it was priced at $20. At that price point, the quality was completely unacceptable.
The New York strip steak was just as bad. It arrived overcooked, and while the server offered to remake it, I chose to eat it rather than wait again. Even so, it ended up being one of the worst steaks I’ve ever had. It was difficult to finish, and I can confidently say I’ve had far better steaks at places like Texas Roadhouse or Outback for a fraction of the cost.
The lava cake was decent, but nothing special—I’d compare it to the lava cake from Domino’s. It didn’t taste house-made and felt more like a reheated, mass-produced dessert.
Service and hospitality were also lacking. The server asked, “Was the calamari great?” and was met with silence, so it was clear we didn’t enjoy it. He was also aware that the steak did not come out correctly, and aside from offering a remake, nothing was done to address the issues—no comp, no apology, no gesture of goodwill.
Overall, this was some of the worst food I’ve had at a restaurant, made even more frustrating by the absurd prices and lack of service recovery. This place is a shame to the hospitality industry, and I would strongly recommend avoiding it.

My aunt and I went for Christmas Eve and our server Jessica was beyond phenomenal with the amount Of people and things going on. Also hats off to the management I believe his name was Peter? Has a great understanding of the restaurant, our night was so smooth even with it being busy. Will GLADLY be returning more frequently.

The food and particularly the crab legs and to some extent, the salmon, were lacking and overpriced, but the service from Maria was spectacular. Michelle at the bar was also lovely. If it were not for the two of them, I’d be very disappointed and probably would not come back, but because of them I’ll give it another try.

We had the pleasure of dinning at the Chart House for Christmas dinner. Katherine our server was fabulous. She certainly knows how to hussle. Even with chaos surrounding us, she took time to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The lobster bisque was by far the best. The Prime Rib and Filet were outstanding. Melt in your mouth. The choices were plenty. We are definitely coming back.

Chart house is always a fun one when visiting Long Boat Key. They have a great early dinner menu as well as a great happy hour at the bar. The views are what makes this place special! Recommend making a reservation as they fill up quickly. They have a beautiful salad bar if that’s your thing but I was very pleased with their house salad. We will be back next visit to the area!

Food was cold (including the usually fantastic lava cake), missing appetizer orders and an expensive Prime Rib full of grissile (see photo). All this with an early dinner and a half full restaurant.
Wrote email to manager mr Van Bueren no response In 7days.
Apparently, management doesn't care about quality nor about losing customers . I do not recommend Chart house, once my favorite restaurant on longboat. If you work hard for your money, spend it ELSEWHERE.
UPDATE 12/9
Manager called with email issues and being on vacation . He apologized for the experience will send gift card & most importantly will advise staff to notify the mgr on duty when customer is unhappy vs point to mgr business card. He stated ownership had not changed since 2004. I'm sure they are unhappy reading this review. Will see what happens.
