I stumbled upon Umbria Cafe early in the morning during my run in South Beach after realizing I was out of coffee at home. Just a few blocks from my place, I found this cozy spot and ordered a single espresso. The gentleman asked if it was for here or to go. I said for here. To my surprise, the espresso was served in a proper porcelain cup with a small glass of sparkling water. I was shocked.
I have visited countless coffee shops across the U.S., including the so-called fancy ones like Starbucks, and none have ever served espresso the authentic Italian way with water on the side. That simple gesture instantly transported me back to Italy in Rome, Milan, or Florence, where espresso is treated like an art form.
The coffee itself was rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The sparkling water added the perfect touch, refreshing and ideal for cleansing the palate after a delicious espresso. That moment alone earned this café five stars.
If you appreciate true coffee culture, Umbria Cafe is a gem worth visiting.

This is a Seattle-based Italian style coffee chain. It was one of my all time favorite/go-to spots when I lived in Seattle and I was thrilled to find a location here. They have excellent coffee, as well as teas, pastries, and gelato! I recommend an affogato or a cappuccino freddo for a hot Miami day.

A good cafe with good service and a sleek, minimalist design. The expansive windows flood the space with natural light, and the bar seating facing outward creates an ideal spot for productivity. My matcha was pretty good, a decent quality blend. For those sunny days, there's also abundant outdoor seating available.

And the croissant was flaky, buttery, and just the right amount of indulgence to pair with your morning brew. You can tell they care about what they serve, both in taste and presentation.
If you’re into real coffee, not the touristy sweet stuff, this spot is a gem. A must-visit for caffeine lovers in Miami!

The staff is lovely, the location great and coffee a home run. While this place has one of the best coffee in Miami Beach, there have been a number of things that lower my rating, that they could fix. One, the price has gone up to make it up there in the most expensive category, and that price point keeps me away sometimes. Second, the combination of the AC indoors consistently being too cold to sit comfortably, with allowing smokers at the outdoor tables to sit wherever they want, sometimes means there is no place I want to sit. Not sure if they can ban or corral smokers to the side of the building (at least) but surely raising the AC maybe three degrees would be doable. Lastly, there are just not many savory, vegan options for food, which would help (some of us). Finally, the WiFi is always iffy. Everyone wants strong consistency WiFi at a cafe - that can be fixed!
