The hostess and wait staff were very friendly . Makoto has always been one of our go-to's when we are in the shoppes as we live in Bal Harbour but it is definitely not well kept outside at all. The chairs in many recent visits have been very dirty, with food left in crevices as well as on arm rests. It is disappointing that a restaurant like this with a longstanding reputation would allow this to happen. It's something that I've never seen in any other restaurant...
Makoto remains our favorite modern Japanese restaurant in Miami, Bal Harbour area. Menu has good options and we continue to order many of our favorites: Hamachi in ponzu sauce, Kani salad, rock shrimp tempurs, wagyu hot stone and the Tozai Plum Sake.
Unfortunately, my first time at Makoto was very dissapointing. Our waiter Jarred was a 0.5/10. I don’t know if something bad in his life happened today but this guy should not have came to work today. No smile, no eye contact. He basically didnt even care about anything. Food was very average, if you want sushi you can get better elsewhere. I should’ve listened to my friends that already went there in the past. We ordered 5-6 courses and they all came at almost the same time....
