“Who knew there was life this side of the state? Passed by the Monticello Opera House last weekend. Got to see their murder mystery show, The Altos Hit Broadway. Apparently the Monticello Opera House hosts various shows throughout the season, including a murder mystery show each year. I just happened to catch the last showing of it. Typically these shows include dinner as well, so it's essentially dinner theater. Don't ask me about price as I was invited, but the dinner included bread, salad, a chicken with pasta dinner, and a dessert (this time being a sponge cake). While the food certainly wasn't gourmet, it was better than expected. I recommend not eating the entire dinner though if you're like me with a tiny stomach. You'll be asking to get rolled out of there. Note, too, that they have a bar on site for drinks. These you purchase separately. Parking around the area is ample and free. This little town doesn't seem have much going for it except this majestic-looking opera house, which I found out has two floors and has been around forever and a day. They seem to host a variety of events, and well, I definitely want to go back. The Playbill I received had next season's showings and there's one there that intrigues me about Anne Frank. Hmm...“
