If you were a fan of Village Coffee Pot, those smooth Lattes, and other flavored coffees have moved across the street to the Mount Dora Confectionary. I stopped in for a caffein fix before heading back to South Carolina, and met a great group of residents that are part of an 8 AM coffee club. Super friendly owner and guests welcomed me in as one of their own.

This place is a huge rip-off40.00 a lb.for candy!!Rude young girl working there tonightI thought the candy was 1/4lb.for 9.99That's bad enough but what I received couldn't have been more than 1/4lb.She said it was more than 1/2 lb.Cost 26.00.It didn't weigh thatRidiculousWill never buy anything in this candy store againThey will cheat and will you off

Children running the shop, carrying on. No greeting when you walk in, just them checking how they look in the reflection of some sort of tray. This place is a joke. Why do these owners have kids running there businesses. A 17 yr old girl couldn't care less if your business fails or succeeds. Do better.

Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place! Myself and a friend went to get gelato here and it was horrible. The place is run by teenagers. The candy and ice cream are not fresh. In fact, we bought 2 small cups of gelato ? and it cost $17! We go to eat our gelato and it tasted weird…very tacky and sour then we realized is was no good and freezer burned! Yuck! We immediately threw it away. Never again will we come here. I’ll spend my hard earned money somewhere else.

Nice shop, conveniently located while visiting the downtown area with our adult son & his family. The grandkids definitely enjoyed the experience. The store does have a decent selection for its size, as well as a couple tables with chairs & shade out front for the kids to explore their treasures for a few minutes before we continued on.We would visit again. I only rated the store as 4 instead of 5 because of a couple disappointments we encountered. We asked a store clerk about some items we were specifically looking for after viewing the photos of the "specials" on their website and learned that those items were not actually offered in the store, and had not been for quite some time. We also could not dispense reasonable amounts of jelly beans to make the specific flavor combinations or the mixes we wanted because, the instant we opened the dispenser, a huge amount of beans dumped/poured out so fast the quart-sized bag was 1/2 full of that 1 flavor before we could even get the dispenser closed, and you're not allowed to put any beans back once they are dispensed. We ended up having to pretty much skip the jelly bean idea that had been a particular draw for us. I would offer that a smaller dispenser opening or changing the jelly beans to a bin & scoop system as they use for all of their other candies priced by the pound would be more user-friendly.

Moved to the area about 4 months been coming here for about 3 months. I try to bring my 2 kids here every tuesday, it has great fresh chocolates along with all kinds of amazing gelatis, the place gives off a 1980’s candy shop. The worker, Mariah, is and was an absolute joy, im originally not from here, and moved here from São Paulo, therefore my english was not very good. to my surprise Mariah spoke portuguese! ever since then me try to come in whenever she has working, she always made a point to compliment my clothe, ask my day, and talk to me as a friend. today i found out she will be leaving soon to college. So, i decided to write a nice review not only to thank the candy shop for bringing a taste of sweetness to my family’s world, but to also making Mount Dora feel like home.

This was my first time going. My daughter had previously went earlier that day to check it out. So I decided to go after work. I went and yes it was very busy when I first walked in and it looked as if only 1 person was working. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt and looked around and waited. Everyone had pretty much left but 2 other ladies besides myself who was just now just "sampling "ice cream and the lady had looked at me several times but never said anything to me like I will be right with you or give me just a moment or is there something I can help you with, nothing...knowing I was in the same spot and hadn't moved. I will not be back. Thanks but no thanks for welcoming me.

Expensive for very little and not very good me and my family order pistachios and there were no pistachios no nuts in any of the ice creams

I definitely support local businesses. But tje pricing structure for candies is terrible. Ended up spending 25 dollars on what amounted to a hersheys bar worth of chocolate marshmallow fluff and 2 graham crackers.

If i could give a higher rating i would, amazing ice cream and gelato. Many chocolate and candy options. The worker, Maria, which i believe the name was. Was extremely sweet with our children gave each of our kids .25c out of her tip jar so our kids could try out the gumball machine! not to mention worker wasn’t mad or grudgy about giving out samples. excellent service and products.

Went on a Tuesday afternoon it wasn't busy - actually one other customer there. Nobody ready to wait on us so we left. Waited and waited. Girls busy on their phones
