Best restaurant in the Southeastern US. My favorite place by far. The shrimp and crab meat entree is phenomenal and the scallops are to die for. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the owner is gracious and welcoming. The chef is amazing.

My wife and I know the owner and we knew that this restaurant has a great reputation, so we decided to try it out. We had 7 o'clock reservations, and we arrived promptly. We were immediately seated and we were given menus and a wine list. For starters, we were provided with crackers, pâté, salmon mousse and whipped butter. We were also given hard rolls. All of them were delicious. The server seemed to know immediately when we were ready to order. For appetizers, we ordered two crab cakes to share. While they were not the best that we have ever had, they were pretty close to it. The chef avoided overloading them with fillers and mayonnaise. The flavor of the backfin crab meat dominated--as it should. The soup was vegetable Florentine. While I am not particularly fond of vegetable soup, I could not keep it from disappearing. The salad was a dark green salad with just the right amount of oil and vinegar dressing together with blue cheese. That disappeared quickly, too. My entree was a magnificent Ciopino with large shrimps, huge scallops, backfin crab meat, clams, fish and lobster in a tomato vegetable broth. The portion was generous, and it left me filled. My wife's entree was Steak and Scampi. This consisted of grilled tenderloin with three large shrimps. She was also full when she was done. We unfortunately didn't have room for dessert, but we had coffee, which was hot and freshly brewed. With our meal, we had a bottle of Groth Sauvignon Blanc, which was a perfect pairing with our meal. Matt, our server was friendly, helpful and the soul of professionalism. We were there for about two hours--a most memorable evening.

Our Friday night group had dinner here last night. We have had dinner here many times over the years. After many years we knew they were closing permanently soon because of the owners health. The food and service has always been fantastic until last night. I personally had the steak which I have enjoyed many times however last night I thought I was at Outback. Sorry This was a very high end dinning restaurant were we always enjoyed everything. Sorry to see it gone but unfortunately it seem something has happened and it already left. Good by old friend and we wish you good luck and better health.

Fantastic! A quiet personal setting, 4 course meal, everything was delicious. The Blue Heron served 5 of us excellently and the whole group was very happy with the experience. Recommend.

For many years we have been celebrating our anniversary at the Blue Heron and the food and the service has been incredible, until our last visit. The food was still delicious but the service was not what we have become accustomed too. Instead of the pampered feeling we have had on past visits this time we felt that we were being ignored. We did not get our wine for almost 30 minutes and that long to order our food as well. Our wait staff was busy, however, other clientele seemed to be getting preferential treatment. We are upset because this is/was our favorite place to dine. We are seasonal folk and always come for special occasions and bring friends and family from out of town. Disappointing

What a great dinner. Everything was fantastic and very well prepared.. Don't be put off by the prices. They include four courses: soup, salad, entree with vegetables and potatoes, and desert. The black grouper stuffed with crab was superb. The seared scallops were done perfectly and included a beautiful sauce. Our waiter was excellent and highly knowledgeable and professional. Excellent wine list. We look forward to returning.

Wonderful food starting with bread with pate. A delicious mushroom soup with perfect amount of onions. Loved the imperial crab dish. Frozen Key lime pie was delicious and dense. Service was excellent and wine bottle was great.

Beautiful spot overlooking the harbour but more importantly the food was very well prepared and presented. This is a "dressy" restaurant where casual attire is not appropriate, and the spectacular care and attention of the staff matches this upscale feeling. All meals are priced to include excellent soup, salad (prepared tableside to order), main course, and beautiful desserts. Don't miss this if you're looking to dine in the Marco Island area!

We have eaten dinner at The Blue Herron every year since 1976 at least once and many times twice a year when we visit Marco Island or Naples.

Best Fine dining experience! We made reservations the day before, and we were seated inside, right at the beautiful, waterside. We had a beautiful sunset view from our table. Our meal started with an introduction to our waiter, an amazing, efficient, well trained guy named Bill. We ordered some wine, from a large wine selection. And then got started with some included, assorted creamy spreads, and piping hot homade rolls. Then we ordered our entrees. Started with a very flavorful, fresh bowl of soup. Then, the waiter came tableside and prepared our salads. Nice shrimp, Mary Rose and blue cheese crumble options. Then next, the real treat! We were served our main entrees. We had the beautiful, crisp, meaty crab cakes. And also, the tender filet mignon and shrimp scampi. Everything was cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. After this feast, we chose our deserts. We had the bananas foster and the frozen style Key lime pie. Along with some decaf and hot tea. The view, the service and the beautiful meal, were all 5 star. Can't wait to come back!
