It is 4:15 on a Saturday night and the restaurant would not let me place a to go order. They never even heard my order which was for one person. I have never experienced this before and I might be more inclined to understand their position if it was later tonight. Therefore we will not be dining in at this establishment and will let our friends and coworkers know of our experience.

Made reservations for our family group during Thanksgiving weekend. On the way we got caught up in a major vehicle accident and were running late due to detours etc. I got a call from the restaurant confirming we still planned on arriving for dinner and when I explained the issue was assured that our table was ready and not to rush. On arrival we were quickly shown to our table and drink orders were taken and received quickly. Our food, starting with multiple appetizers came out quickly and despite a couple of special requests everything was served exactly as requested. Orders included everything from the country fried steak, prime rib, salmon to the lobster tail risotto. A couple of my family members can usually find something to complain about regardless of where we go but everyone was very happy with the entire dinner experience, not a single negative word from anyone. Unfortunately due to time constraints we were not able to have dessert, I've experienced the desserts here before and was looking forward to it. Our server was very attentive and explained the evenings specials, sides and options available and maintained that attention during the entire meal. As we were preparing to leave she profusely thanked us for coming. Not our first visit to the Braised Onion and won't be the last.

We used to attend the thanksgiving buffet every year before the pandemic and it was great. However, this year was a huge disappointment. Not only did the price increase by $30.00 but the food wasn't nearly as good as in the past. The carving station had something that looked like turkey loaf rather than an actual turkey with no dark meat available. The dressing was dry and terrible. The gravy was thin and salty. I was very disappointed with how far the quality has gone down. I had expected better for $80.00 per plate.

The Thanksgiving buffet was outstanding. The wide selection of sides included a delicious butternut squash lasagna among sweet and mashed potatoes, dressing, and Brussels sprouts. The turkey was fork tender and delicious. The server mentioned that they sous vide the turkey for two days to arrive at that tenderness. Service was so impressive. The staff were attentive and charming and made us feel exceptionally well cared for. I look forward to returning to try the regular dinner menu.

We are a kayak group who come to Silver Springs twice a year. We always dine here. They can accommodate large group. The service was excellent as always, and this waitress was one of the best. The food was terrific as always. My only complaint - they wouldn't take us at 7 even though it looked like they weren't busy, they told us 7:30, and then they rushed us out the door since they close at 8. We would rather go somewhere else than not enjoy after dinner drinks and conversation. This was very disappointing as we love this restaurant.

I've been coming to Braised Onion for most of my life. I've tried just about everything on the menu, and it's all fantastic. The food is always delicious, the service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Their regular menu never disappoints, but I especially love their weekend specials—like the Sunday Country Fried Chicken—and their holiday buffets, which are always a treat. Braised Onion is easily my favorite restaurant in Ocala, and I can't recommend it enough!
