WOW, WHAT A GREAT RUM DISTILLERY!! I would have to do ten reviews to even come close to rating this place. They say big things come in small packages, well this place is small and yet big in every thing that makes a great business: produce, personality, tasting, tour, and "friendship"!
We arrived 15mins before closing and 'James' (Paul) treated us like we were the only ones in the place.. because we were.? But instead of shuffling us through so he could go home, he took the time to show us every detail of the business, from tasting to the lab - and he tells some great stories too. Don't know if that is just their way of doing business but it was like meeting an old friend who was proud of what he does - you could tell his heart was in it... and the tastings proved it! I have never tasted such smooth, tasteful, inviting rum before. We even poured the spice rum over our pancakes this morning it is that good! 'James' even shared with us his private personal special 'apple rum' he had.. OMG.. I swear the apples must have came from the Garden of Eden, this spirit was so sinfully gold!
We are avid bourbon enthusiasts, but 'James' explained everything to us, the difference, similarities, he (and the rum) could 'almost'? make me give up bourbon!! THIS STUFF IS THAT GREAT!! Do yourself a favor, drop in and see "'James' Two Brothers", or just go on line and get a bottle (or two ), which ever way you'll Thank Me Later!!
We attended a tour and were shown around by the owner and his co-worker Taylor. When I reached out to plan attending the tour the owner was attentive and personable. He made the entire process enjoyable and interesting. I learned alot and tasted some amazing spirits. They are knowledgeable and you can tell they care deeply about quality over quantity. It was my birthday and he was generous as well gifting me something extra on top of buying a bottle to take home.
Personable, comfortable, and low-key experience. It felt intimate but approachable to do a tasting.
Be careful we went by on a Wednesday at 12:30 and their website says they are open and they were not and didn't answer the phone. It may be good stuff but no one will know if they are not open.
This may be "small town", bit it is small town at its best! Paul is a great guy with a wealth of distilling knowledge. I am usually a single malt fan (which was still good), but THAT RYE! The bourbon found its way home with my friend. To think that they started with RUM (which was also very smooth and good) and then became masterful with whiskey. I highly recommend this stop when travelling through Central Florida.
Good testing and service
Very cool place. Meet one of the owners, very polite and friendly. A must place to visit, and to buy, well worth it. Awsome taste.
We were visiting from out of town and James Two Brothers was suggested to visit by someone local and it is definitely a must see when in Ocala. The facility is understated but the hospitality is unbelievable! So accommodating, friendly and generous with their samples. Their rums, bourbon and single malt gives the big name distilleries a run for their money! Would love to see James Two Brothers at more events sampling their craft and to see more of their bottles at local stores to buy.
I’m lucky enough to be right next door to this incredible distillery. James is very knowledgeable and has everything down to perfection. I would encourage everyone to try before going to the store! It doesn’t get any better than this ??
Drove an hour to get a tour because the website said it was open the 2nd Saturday at 11 for tours. However they're closed for Covid ... maybe update your website???

Amazing product and really fine People, if your a Rum or Whiskey Connoisseur, give em a try you won’t regret it!!
Great website. Hope to start a long relationship with James 2 Brothers.
Went out to visit them today. But due to covid they are doing tours by appointment only. Called the number on the website and they were nice enough to drop everything and give us an unscheduled tour since we were already in the parking lot. (Thank you) This is a small family business. We did a tasting of their rums and whiskey and am happy to say we bought at least one of every bottle. We will be watching to see when the Smoky Rye is available to purchase as well as the apple rum next year.
James Two Brothers is s gem in the rough. I dare say there are no finer spirits in the 48 continuous states. I am extremely fortunate that they are practically in my backyard. Drop-in, take a taste and take a tour. You're sure to find a rewarding experience.
During the last week I have drank the dark rum as a shot, over ice and in varies cocktails. I find the rum to be a strong, clean tasting rum with no harsh after taste. It’s obvious the James Two Brothers Distillers use premium ingredients. I look forward too trying additional products when they are made available in the midwest.
