Stopped here on my drive passing through Orlando & honestly everything was amazing! The customer service was really good. I got the jerk chicken with rice & peas and the macaroni & cheese. I also added a side of sweet plantains. The food was so delicious and I would recommend this place to anyone. I dined in & I must say the place was very clean. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the owner came to check up on me. 10/10 and would definitely try again!

You can't come to Orlando and not try some Caribbean food. And this place is really a hidden gem! The name itself, "Virgin Island" indicates what kind of food you should expect, authentic Caribbean cuisine. As you walk in the place, you automatically see the quality of the food based upon the awards on the wall. The owner and chef Vern Thomas has made a name for himself in the Orlando area, and he did it through his food. So let me tell you what did it for me. I ordered the curry chicken with rice and peas and fried, sweet, plantain. Little did I know when they say chicken, they mean a half of a chicken. Such a huge portion of food was amazing. In addition, it was amazingly delicious. The spices were on point the flavors were layered and everything was perfectly cooked. Needless to say, I was absolutely, totally impressed.

I was told by a friend this place was great and it was no lie. The food was top notch and the establishment was really clean. The chef came out to ask how the food was (excellent obviously and he knew that). Over all great experience.

I got excited when this restaurant came across my TikTok as the owner is from the Virgin Islands, however it was not what I expected. The food has a more Caribbean-American taste. Others they may love it but for a deep rooted Virgin Islander it did not hit the spot for me. The taste was not authentic, as I do understand that you will not be able to get the same seasoning or fresh herbs that are used this was nothing close to what the Virgin Islands have to offer. The owner was pleasant and asked how everything was. You usually don’t see that. The deserts are amazing! They are not many Caribbean beverages to select from. The inside and outside of the restaurant was clean, music you can vibe to and wait time to receive your food was a short time.I will not get into detail about what was bought but if you are deep rooted from the Caribbean this may not be the restaurant for your liking.

*******Update****February 1st 2024I just read this and realized the owner responded to my honest review.Instead of this owner accepting a complete honest review from a paid customer, they dare to respond back with a nasty, and, quite frankly stereotypical insult that I am some how an unhappy woman.I am an unhappy woman all because I didn't enjoy their food, and dared to question how they stay open. (an unhappy black woman is what Im guessing)Like I have said before, the service was good and the atmosphere was okay- standard for this type of establishment. The food is horrible, bland and tasteless. I am Jamaican and I know everything about Carribean flavor. You have the FLARE maybe, but definitely not the FLAVOR.Only in Orlando can you pass off such trash food under the guise of 'best Carribean flavors', or whatever your supposed accolades are. You've pointed out that you are a black owned business. What difference does that make? TBH it'd been better if ya hadn't because it's even more embarrassing IMO with regards to the taste of the "authentic food" your establishment purportedly serves. You have pointed out many things in your degrading response to my honest review, except for the obvious, as you clout your rewards and the overwhelming support of your customers and community. Here is the obvious that you have left out sir /madam - - - -95% of your customers wouldn't know what authentic carribean food was from a "peanut butter and 'spiced mango jelly' cocoa-bread sandwich, with sliced 'jerked-avacodo' in-between."In fact, now that I think about this sandwich, which I literally just made up to make a point, - - such a sandwich would be better than anything on your menu right about now. Have at the idea, I will not sue for intellectual property, the menu is in desperate need of something tasty on it.Learn to take the honest reviews of a paid customer and keep it "moving and improving". This comes with the territory of running an establishment where people are bound to have something to say, good or bad, especially in the food business. It's so ironic that you would then invoke a biblical scripture AFTER you have insulted me for just being honest. Typical. The thing is, I'm not a weapon. I'm much more powerful than that. You're a true professional.Foodies .... If you want great Caribbean food go to Negrils. If that is too far, then the Golden Crust is certainly a mountain of improvement over this place.**Update after having tried the food on 2 seperate occasions.Food is overly commercialized in taste, bland to be exact, and is very salty. Many people have no idea what true carribean food tastes like, so this is how they remain open. Those with expert taste buds, trust me and save the money.**This is an update to my original review below** : the responder has clarified the reason for the wait, and says that food is prepared to order. This is an acceptable explanation for the wait time. I wish the employee behind the counter had stated that. Being fair, as I am, I will give the place a chance and will adjust the rating accordingly.Original review:The establishment is clean. The guy behind the counter was rude. It was a Saturday, around 7:00pm.Walking in to a take-out establishment and being told there is a 30-minute wait, regardless of what you order, when you are the only one there is not acceptable anywhere. Too many establishments are prioritizing online orders and pick up orders over on-site patrons. This is not a good precedent to set.

Spotted this place on IG, figured let's give it a shot! Love that it's locally owned and great Caribbean Fusion. It has a little bit of everything. I will be back! Place was clean & quaint. Service was professional and friendly. Owner/Chef came out to serve us and speak with us for about a minute. So why 4 stars and not 5?! Let's jump right into it! Wings- OUTRAGEOUSLY Good! If You don't have anything else have the wings. Quarter chicken & Ribs combo- chicken was so flavorful and juicy. The ribs had a good taste, but nothing that made me in love with them. Rice & beans- not a fan. Didn't have much taste for me. Loaded Tostones- surprisingly really good. Ground beef was a tad salty. Mac n Cheese & steak bowl- steak was salty. That killed it for my wife. Steak was chewy, but skirt steak can be chewy at times. The Mac n Cheese was great & so cheesy. Maybe we will go the Mac n Cheese with wings. Either way, I think this place needs some Serious love from anyone reading this. Go give it a shot!
