My name is Dave and I was an original employee in 1994. I also worked for Disney for 35 years,so I had the best of both worlds. Shades of Green has a warm spot in my heart. I grew up in the military in Germany and visited the different R&R centers there, so when I heard the hotel was opening I applied. I was the bartender at the Garden Gallery Bar for 8 years until the hotel went down for renovation. I met so many people from a life I grew up in from all branches of the service. I was honored to meet WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan veterans while I was there. The original hotel only had 350 rooms and after the renovation it’s what you see now. In my tenure there we were the envy of all the hotels because we were full all the time. For our military this hotel holds the same standards that our sister RR centers have in Hawaii, Germany, and Korea. It’s the best bargain in Orlando Florida. If you do go across the street to the Polynesian Hotel and enjoy Ohanas on the second floor you and I will have traveled the same ground going back to 1976 when I started as a busboy.

First time visitors. We stopped in Shades if Green to visit the Magnolia Day Spa (fabulous) and found out about Mangino's. They hit a great balance on the Italian theming. The chairs were comfortable for patrons of all sizes. Everything was spotlessly clean. A warm loaf of bread was brought to the table. I had the mushroom soup and John the French onion. We both had steak. It was the best meal I've had on this vacation. Wait staff was polite, attentive and knew their craft well. I think we will have to stop in again to try another offering. #ADA #military #steak #holiday #cheese #shadesofgreen

It's great when it's great, but tonight was not one of those nights. We're seated within 15 minutes as told, but then waited about 20 minutes in the back before multiple staff apologized for no waiter to finally have a waiter return about 5 minutes later. When the food arrived, I thought it was good to go... nope. Order was wrong but with the place set to close in an hour I didnt feel like returning an order to upset the kitchen staff. The food is good at least, just not what I was planning to eat after a long day. Tonight is probably due to the wait staff dropping the ball. Oh, the table water tastes straight from the tap if that is of concern. It can be off-putting if not expected.

We ate here twice during our stay and had probably one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten anywhere. The pasta was also excellent and enough for 2 meals. Weird that they don’t put salt/pepper/sugar on the tables but overall, I definitely recommend trying it during your stay!

We have stayed at Shades of Green for years, and were really excited to finally eat at Manginos. Unfortunately we left very disappointed. Ordered the cheese wheel pasta, which took forever to come out. Shout out to the cheese wheel pasta chef because he was the highlight of the night. End of the night it seems we were forgotten about so had to hunt down a server for boxes, and a way to pay our tab. Will not be going back.

My family has stayed at Shades of Green twice, and each time we stay, we always look forward to dinner at Mangino's. The servers and staff are very kind, professional, and accommodating. The atmosphere is comfortable, clean, and inviting, and we love the yummy food!
My ONLY suggestions to this lovely restaurant would be that they should consider adding a small cheese pizza to the children's menu, and they should also try to add lasagna to the dinner menu in the future. I believe guests would love to have those classic dishes added to the menu, after all, it is an Italian cuisine spot.
Anyway, we're always happy when we dine here, we do recommend giving Mangino's a try, good staff, great stuff!

Of recently have had bad experiences here. Their staff does not care about the guests. As of recently we stayed here and our reservation didn’t link all the way and needed to get an after hours pass to show that we could be in the park. The lady at the front desk was told us that we only needed our bus pass. Not true, when asking another concierge about the same issue, she said no problem and pulled the cards out of a drawer to fill them out. Just recently when modifying a reservation and then having to cancel because days didn’t work out. They did not want to refund the money and said that I cancelled with in the 5 day window which was not true per modified dates. Just want to let everyone know. Their customer service is horrible.

Long wait for Magic Kingdom restaurants. We reluctantly decided to eat at our hotel. What a treat this ended up being. The service was amazing. The food was even more amazing. The chicken fettuccine was probably the best we have ever had. They surprised my son with a complimentary cheesecake dessert for his birthday. Highly recommend and we will be back.

Excellent food and even better service from our server Anabella. Shades of Green has really stepped up their game as far as the food goes at Mangino’s. We were all really surprised and impressed. The Cesar salad with chicken was really good and our Steak for two was even better! We had a large party and everyone enjoyed their dishes. Thank you so much for the wonderful dinner!

Just spent two days here. Room was clean and large. Grounds were well cared for. Bus to Walt Disney world was quick and helpful. Breakfast included Mickey Mouse waffles or pancakes, and buffet style extras. 10/10. Can’t wait to plan another trip to WDW and will definitely stay at SOG!

I wish I could give a better review but the food and service needs a little work. I ordered the Mahi Mahi and it was very dry. The broccoli had zero seasoning. The waiter missed our appetizer so we never received it. The steak that my adult son ordered was to be cooked medium rare and it came out well done (no pink in the center at all).
