My friend and I are huge fans of all-you-can-eat sushi, so when we moved and found a place just three minutes away from my house, we were excited to try it out. We’re regulars at Sushi Yama near International Drive, so we were hoping this place could become our new go-to. Unfortunately, we left extremely disappointed.

The appetizers were a huge letdown. They tasted like something you’d find frozen at the grocery store, and honestly, I didn’t even want to finish them. The sushi itself was also off. It was served warm and had a weird taste—definitely not what you want when eating sushi. One thing I really noticed was the strange sauces they put on top of otherwise decent-sounding rolls. For example, one of my rolls had chili pepper sauce on top, even though it wasn’t advertised that way. I didn’t touch it after that.

The worst part of the experience came when we asked for a comp. I rarely ever do this, but we were honestly so turned off by the food that just looking at it made us feel sick. We explained the situation and asked if we could just pay for one of the all-you-can-eat meals instead of both. We thought that was a reasonable request, given that we had eaten a little but then decided we were done. Instead, they insisted we switch to a regular meal and pay à la carte for what we’d already eaten, which ended up being way more expensive than the all-you-can-eat price. This was a ridiculous solution, especially since we had no idea the food would be so disappointing when we ordered. We would have never chosen the all-you-can-eat option if we’d known.

On top of all that, the vibe inside the restaurant was off, and the staff didn’t help improve the experience. Needless to say, we’ll be sticking to Sushi Yama from now on, and we’d recommend you do the same.

my friend and i absolutely love going to all you can eat sushi restaurants, and after moving, were pleased to find this one located a mere three minutes from my house. we are frequent visitors of sushi yama near international drive, and wanted to try this place out to see if we could save ourselves the trip. needless to say, it was disappointing. we found our entire conversation at dinner was just us trying to find something- anything- we liked about it. the appetizers were disgusting and might as well have come out of a frozen bag at the grocery store. the sushi was warm and just off in taste, and i think we can all agree that if anything sushi is not something you want to taste off. one thing i specifically noticed was strange sauces being on top of otherwise good sounding sushi rolls. for example, one of my rolls had chili pepper sauce on top despite not being advertised that way, which led me to not want it. the worst part was when we decided to ask for a comp, which is something i absolutely NEVER do. it just got to the point where we were so disgusted even looking at the sushi was making us sick. we explained our situation and simply asked if we could pay for just one of the all you can eat meals instead of both. we felt that was a fair deal given we had eaten a little before deciding we were done. instead, they insisted we switch our meal type from all you can eat to regular, and pay à la carte for what we had eaten, which was MUCH more than what it would have been with all you can eat. this was an absolutely ridiculous compromise, given we had no way to know this would be the outcome before ordering and trying the food, and would have never ordered all you can eat style at regular prices. not to mention the vibe was completely off inside, and the staff was too. needless to say we will be sticking to sushi yama, and you should too.

During our visit, we had a mixed experience with the service provided. Stephanie, as always, demonstrated exceptional customer service, patiently answering all our questions and addressing our concerns before we placed our order. She truly goes above and beyond to ensure a positive experience for her customers.

However, we did encounter an issue with Rachel, one of the newer team members. When a walk-in customer expressed urgency to place their order, instead of stepping in to assist, Rachel loudly called out to Stephanie from across the room, disrupting the atmosphere. This felt unprofessional and created an uncomfortable environment.

When Stephanie graciously apologized to us and went to assist the other customer, I requested to wait for Stephanie to take our order. Rachel responded dismissively, saying loudly, “Let her do everything,” which further added to the negative impression.

While Stephanie’s excellent service continues to stand out, I believe Rachel could benefit from additional training in customer interaction and professionalism to better handle situations under pressure.

Yesterday 9/20/24 I went with my husband to eat. We arrived at 5:30 pm and left at 7:40 pm. We were served by a Latina girl who wanted to force us to eat only the regular menu. If you look at the cameras, she did the same to all the people who came in. While she was working, she never left her headset and was talking on her cell phone. She received several friends while she was serving us. The food was ready and she waited 10 more minutes to pick it up. When we asked her to bring us the check, it took her 20 minutes to bring the check. She was very unpleasant the whole time when speaking to us and she never attended to us. Please look at your cameras yesterday. She attended to all her friends, it was horrible and I will never return. We paid $80 and we ate very little and very badly.HORRIBLE

Been there many times and food has always been good especially the hibachi filet minion and lobster, but this time around I had to ask them to heat up the food and check the steak which looked very undercooked, after receiving it a second time ,I tried to eat the steak but again looks like they gave me the same plate exactly how I sent it back the first time. The steak was raw looking, I showed the server and walked out . Never again. Just lost a customer..

I just visited after not having gone in a while. Used to love this place. The experience was not great for me, the two girls there were on their phones when I came in and not welcoming at all. I was sat down, ordered plum wine which was served in what looked like a used wine glass that had lip stains all over it. Unfortunately I didn’t notice until later and felt gross about it. The teriyaki chicken sushi I ordered was hard as a rock, felt like they served me old leftovers. The hostess who was taking care of me sat in what looked like her friend or family members table to vent or something, just so unprofessional, even if the restaurant was slow. Then she went outside to take a personal call and was out there for a while, which led me to have to literally call out to the other girl sitting in the back so I could close out. Then to add to the terrible experience, I kept hearing someone from the kitchen staff hock a loogie. It was so disgusting. Will not be coming back here.
