Couple of coworkers and I came here for dinner. Luckily I made a reservation and I highly recommend it cause it got a little crazy in there. The waiter was a younger guy and fairly friendly. He made jokes here and there as well. Now my coworker ordered a pretty little drink and said it was good, she couldn't remember the name. I went with a beer but when it came out in a little raggedy can I said no thanks! Not for $8 bucks. I ended up ordering absolutely nothing healthy, slab of ribs with loaded baked potato and their mac & cheese. The sides came out piping hot. The potato was really good and while they do openly express their mac & cheese is different and I had no expectations besides wanting it to taste good, it was not something I would rush to order again. Something in it was weird, I couldn't identify it. Now the bad part, those ribs were served to me cold/borderline room temp. Like really, they didn't even look warm, let alone hot enough for serving. I didn't send them back, just decided to eat it later after having a couple of the cold ribs. Uncharacteristically, I didn't take any pics of my coworkers' food but they said their meals were good. They were not first timers like myself so I would guess they knew what to order.

Food is always amazing!! Atmosphere is great. Service is a 5 but I gave it a 4 star because the servers haven’t had the nice personalities they used to have here 4-5 years ago. They do their job but are not as personable. Went there for Valentine’s Day and food was amazing. I highly recommend the Mac ‘n cheese for a side. My wife had the French Dip and I had the Cajun Ribeye!

First time at J. Alexander's and loved the dining experience. We had reservations and were seated as soon as we arrived. The space is large with an open kitchen. Noise level was good - able to have a conversation at the table. Our waiter was personable and informative. Was not intrusive. The food was delicious. Our dinner mate had the crab cakes and said they were the best she ever had. I enjoyed the seared ahi tuna with a cold orzo salad which was very tasty. The mahi mahi with a crab topping was another winner. The cod piccata was good but a little mushy. The couscous was a big hit. It was a pleasant evening and definitely will visit again.

We ate at the bar and our bartender Jodi was extraordinary. She made the best old-fashioned that I’ve ever had. The food we ordered, the French Dip, was excellent as always. It’s a staple that we keep coming back here for. It’s tender with next to no fat. The french fries are thin and crispy and the Mac & Cheese, well… it’s coming home with us and is beyond delicious. This restaurant is over priced. It was not what I expected for the first time. The steak was so pricey but it was so damn dry not juicy and moist nor seasoned.I can cook a better steak at home. I really want my money back. Im so upset!!!!

I wanted to be fond of this eatery. My spouse ordered the filet, and I ordered the prime rib. They were both really undercooked. My husband managed to finish his filet by nibbling on the edges, but my prime rib was very chewy and uncooked, not at all soft as one might anticipate. It was too hard for me to eat. When the waitress returned, I made the decision to order the cheeseburger, but it was already too late because she didn't show up for another thirty minutes. Never checked to make sure our meals were served correctly. Still, she was quite sweet. The squash was tasty, and the salad wasn't too awful either. The mac and cheese was intriguing; it oddly tasted like French onions and was rather delicious. But I must have quality beef.

They weren't too busy yet when we arrived at five o'clock and were seated immediately.Both the prime rib and the baby back ribs that we got were excellent, albeit the prime rib's pepper was stronger than I would have liked. The food was served promptly as well.Although our server was friendly and personable, it appeared that he spent most of his time focusing on a customer at the other table who he knew personally. This occasionally resulted in us having to wait a long time for service.Overall, we had a great experience, and we are certain that it would have been even better if our waiter hadn't been distracted by individuals he knew.
