American Charlie Grill & Tavern

We used to love this place but our latest dining experience made sure it will be our last. We realized the menu had changed but that they still had wings. I asked our server one simple question about them, are they still smoked wings? Apparently this was the wrong thing to ask because we got attitude and subpar service after. I ordered the pot roast which has always been delicious and I was happy to see it still in the menu. My husband ordered the ribeye medium-rare and a baked potato. When our server brought out our food, he barely glanced at our table as he put our plates down and walked off. My pot roast and mashed potatoes were cold, my husband's steak was overcooked and his baked potato wasn't even warm enough to melt the butter or cheese. We couldn't even tell our server because he went MIA until it was time for the check. Such an expensive, disappointing meal and rude service from a place that used to be our favorite place at the beach.

Service was poor. Place wasn’t busy when we walked in and placed our orders, still took over 30 minutes for our order. Never received one refill, waitress walked up once and asked how we liked our food but immediately turned around before anybody could say anything and that was the only opportunity my brother had to attempt to ask for a refill but didn’t get to. The place also states that they use a separate fryer for their seafood and other fried foods, but my wife who is allergic to seafood started vomiting before we even left the parking lot, so I imagine there was cross contamination somewhere. She had got the Charlie burger with fries. I also had to go find the waitress to receive our ticket so that we could pay. Food was good, but the overall experience was poor. We normally always tip very well but didn’t feel that it was deserved this time. They will charge an automatic gratuity of 20% if you have a party of 8 or more.

I came here with my family on vacation. We sat there for over a hour before our food was brought to us. The food was okay at best, and the restaurant seemed nice. But the service was absolutely terrible. By the time they brought us our food, they forgot one of our plates. And in the entire hour and half we were there, not once did my drink get refilled, I sat there with a empty cup for over 30 minutes. I don't know if it was our server or what, but it was the worst service I've had in Panama city yet.

Fantastic experience! Great service, nice clean restaurant and THE best ribeye steak we’ve had at a restaurant in a long time! The grouper, chicken tender, fries, baked potato, green beans and bacon were also delicious. Also the most reasonable prices for dinner. 10 out of 10 fully recommend!!!

Excellent good & service! Had the shrimp platter. I’m very picky when it comes to house made sauces and their tarter & cocktail sauce was amazing!!! Will go back!

We came here twice during our stay because it was so good! The wings were great and the homemade blue cheese was incredible! Burgers were great! Fried shrimp — so good!! Homemade tartar sauce took it to the next level! My favorite was the side of greens.

Place is hidden away in a shopping center, found it by luck. Won't rate the entire menu but I had the fried green tomato app and the low country boil. It was very good best eats in panama beach in 5 days.

Nathan was THE BEST waiter EVER!!! Thank you SO MUCH Nathan Charlie for making our dinner extra fun last night!!! Also, the musician did a great job!!!

Great family restaurant

Horrible service. Waited close to an hour and half and still hadn’t receive our food. Asked the bartender for refills since our waitress had no intention on waiting on us. He said he can’t help find your waitress. We were here for a 21st birthday dinner. Needless to say 7 people left angry. We will NOT BE BACK. I do NOT recommend to say the least. The manger was nice and offered to comp our meal and give it to go. I said sure, we left empty handed.

Had a party of 9 . We decided last minute to take a chance on American Charlie’s. What a great experience . The food was great , the service was prompt and the server Nathan was a blast.

. Updated .Excellent service. Loved the decor. GREAT selection of food. Food was hot n better than expected . Service was excellent from start to finish. Restaurant does close at 9 on Tuesday. The prices are unbelievable and portions are perfect.
Update 3 years later we won't go back after last nite this was stop 2 a week on our vac. Not anymore.
The restraunt is not the same and the front tells it all with 2 flags missing. Menu has been cut by a lot variety very slim. Prices / were such a great deal now prices have went up food quality has went down. Very sad. I understand everything has went up but our meal last nite it was hard to pick something and the American Charlie burger now has pimento cheese on it. It was a great burger before .

Great place to eat. The drinks are strong and delicious.They make top shelf on request. TIFFANEY was so sweet and gave us great advice on food selection. Prices are also great.
