Food and service are always amazing. I'm sad to see negative reviews from long-time customers unhappy with one visit after a huge remodel and/or hurricane damage. Have you never had an off day?

Used to love this place, not anymore
We’ve been stopping at Shaner's for years during our visits to Pass-a-Grille, St. Pete, and Treasure Island. It was always our go-to for fresh seafood, especially grouper, and the staff used to be so friendly and welcoming and helpful.

Since the ownership change, the place looks brighter, and they’ve added a sandwich and chicken area, plus outdoor benches which are nice improvements.

But sadly, the service has gone downhill. We waited at the counter for a while before anyone noticed us. No smile, no greeting, just a cold transaction. It felt like we were bothering them.

It might seem like a small thing, but customer service matters. You can update the look and change the menu, but people come back because of how they’re treated. The food might still be fine, but the vibe is gone. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

UPDATE: And the grouper had no a fish smell ...it smell like it was out of the refrigerator for a long time...30.00 wasted....🤦🏻‍♀️

Sandwiches were horrible!!! No meat at all. Could not communicate with staff. Will not come back. Have been a customer in the past and never ever was it bad. Very very disappointed

Been a long time customer over the years. Service has dropped. It’s like I have to beg to get waited on. I love buying their fish but the kids in the store are glued to their phones and just stare at people. No hello no how can I help. Bummer

Worker was so helpful and friendly meat selection and drink section unique and outstanding. We love visiting pass-a-grille for the beach but will always stop by here for the options and hospitality!

Reuben was terrible. 2 small pieces of corn beef that was dried out and crunchy. French fries are not home made as advertised. Frozen crinkle cut special.

For several years we have always stopped and bought subs to take to the beach. They have always been excellent. However after the remodel and the change of ownership the sandwiches are terrible. I bought 3 subs. The lady that made the subs barely wrapped them I guess because by the time I got to the beach they were all unwrapping and falling apart. The quality and taste has definitely changed for the worse. I won’t be going back. It’s sad.

Ridiculous priced

Reposting because I went back to see if the owner commented on my review and noticed it was deleted. Now the owner is just deleting reviews he doesn’t like. To sum it up we use to get deli sandwiches from here before heading to the beach. They were good classic deli sandwiches. We went back last week after the remodel was completed and noticed there to be a west shore pizza location inside. Confused on why there was a pizza shop in the deli. The sandwich we got isn’t even from the deli but from west shore pizza. The deli doesn’t make the sandwiches anymore. It appears that the previous owner sold the once mom and pop deli shop to some new owners who are trying to commercialize it. Overall disgusting sandwich that tasted like it came the airport. Won’t be back. Sad to see the old school deli places are closing up.

The staff are friendly but this is not your sandwich shop unless you are fond of airplane food. We ordered a custom sandwich from the deli to take with us. I had to remove the black slimy lettuce from it, apply mayo and mustard from the supplied packets, then cut it in half with my 1” keychain knife. In the store, there is a selection of snacks, groceries, and meats that looked fine.

Best place to stop before heading to the beach, The food and the atmosphere was definitely different, in a good way, The New owners did a great job at remodeling the place. I was presently surprised that they had a good section of wine.

Nice staff. Fresh and clean store with lot's of items. Perfect for anything you need. Plus, awesome Lil Pepper Pants hot sauce for sale!
