Gas station sushi is Michelin star compared to this joint. I have had chocolate chips larger than the pieces of fish used in these rolls of rice. I have drank water with more flavor than these rolls. Someone save Sarasota. Who is giving this 5 stars?!

Just ate here for the first time. Lots to report here. - the food was delicious (and we've struggled being from CA to find sushi we like here). Some fish is only available on the weekends which we have found to be true of many places here as well. - Larry (the owner and chef) is awesome. Super nice guy and happy to accommodate requests! - it is super tiny and mostly geared towards take out and delivery. So if you want to eat there you might want to go early (just 2 tables and a couple of stools at the bar). That said, it made for a cool homey atmosphere we liked. I'll try to post some menu pics later. But definitely recommend.

Fantastic! Living in Sarasota, there is quite a bit of culture to go around and some really great sushi spots. Blue Koi never disappoints and is so close and easy to find. The sashimi is exceptional quality and made with great care. We love their spicy tuna, it's amazing.

Gave this place a try due to the raving reviews and was left quite perplexed. Rice seemed a bit overcooked and they appear to use pretty low grade, gassed fish.No strong complaints, staff was nice, but I found the sushi far from memorable.

I've come here twice and they've been closed both times. This time, even their open sign was on, at 12:45pm on a Thursday... no luck. No note, nothing. Kinda bizarre.

I love this place and the team is so kind!!! Cannot recommend them enough! We got 3 different sushi rolls and the tuna bowl. It was all so delicious. We will be regulars from now on!
My wife picked this up originally and we have already returned two days later. The food here is great, service is fast and the staff is super friendly. So far we’ve tried 8 different items from the menu and all have been equally delicious. We definitely will be regulars at Blue Koi!!!

Last night at 8:40 I made a last minute order (they close at 9pm) for the Shogun Family Platter… which is:1 Spicy Tuna Roll, 1 Salmon Avocado Roll, 1 Crab Meat & Asparagus Roll, 1 Tuna Avocado Roll, 1 California Roll, 2 Miso Soups & 2 SaladsHere are my thoughts:Ginger dressing is common and easy to ruin. Blue Koi’s ginger salad is perfect. Greens are crisp, veggies cut to order and the dressing is as good as it gets..tarte, salty, savory and satisfying. The miso soup that comes with the platter is filled with loads of seaweed, some tofu and a delicate miso broth. Larry, the owner and chef asked me if I like eel sauce or spicy mayo to which I of coarse answered “heck yeah.” This food is just good, man.My boyfriend and I split this and could not have been more happy with it. Not only is the food very fresh, flavorful and fairly priced, but the service was excellent as well. We got there a few minutes after placing our order and had a wonderful conversation with the owner as we talked about his life as a chef to many celebrities and his history working at world class restaurants.I would normally never order so close to closing time but we were starving and we’re craving sushi terribly and had heard good things previous.Not only will we order from here again, I will tell all of my friends to grab a platter or 5 to go and enjoy a fun date-night or family meal they will not forget.Thanks Larry! You got yourself some new regulars. ?

Small seating area but the staff is really friendly and welcoming, they like to talk to you about what you like and will accommodate your spice preferences. The food is amazing and the whole family loves it anytime we order from there all the way down to our 5 year old. Highly recommend eating from here.Kid-friendliness: Good about accommodating our youngest with her own plate.
