Don’t go there if you want to use a gift card. They won’t honor any American Express, visa or Mastercard gift card even though they work just like a credit card card. I think they just don’t want the fee because it’s a little more than a credit card. Also the so called manager was very rude, said I gave her a card that was no good and I needed to give her a good one or another one. I asked her if I didn’t have anything else she told me someone from my party could go to the bank to get money what a way to treat someone who just spent 300$ at their restaurant. I called American Express (which is what they should have done if they couldn’t figure out how to run it) they told me they never tried. I was very capable of paying for it with other means. I guess they should read federal regulations that require them to honor these gift cards or post that they do not take them. It won’t happen to me I will never step foot in that restaurant again
Sushi was delicious. Hibachi was great. Negamaki was tough and inedible

I’ve been to several Hibachi style restaurants and the staff was phenomenal at this one. I have had better seasoned fried rice and meat at other but over all it was a really fun experience and they we very accommodating for our large group!!!
Dietary restrictions: They were able to separate food for members of our party that had garlic and gluten allergies without issue.

I have been living in Sarasota for over 30 years and had never eaten at that restaurant before. The food was excellent; however, I did encounter an issue that is bothering me. The restaurant did not have a dress code policy written on their website. When I entered the establishment wearing a tank top, I was asked to put on a T-shirt, while several others wearing tank tops were allowed to continue dining with their families without any issues. If there is a policy regarding attire, it should be clearly stated on the website so that customers are informed beforehand. This experience has affected my willingness to revisit this establishment because of how I was treated differently than others .

My 4th time there and likely my last. Eight of us sat at table 31 and our chef had no business being a hibachi chef. The shrimp and chicken was way overcooked and cross contamination from the chicken was suspect. He forgot about tossing the shrimp until the end, so he just threw them in the trash and without saying a word walked away. The other servers assisting were excellent but the chef ruined the evening. They also billed us for 8 fried rice when only 6 actually had it.

Food was great, waitress, and cook as well. However, I was celebrating my gfs birthday with family there and she happened to leave her birthday card, and when we were walking out of the resturant she remembered that she had left her card. As soon as we walked out we turned around and this waiter (not at our table) opened up the card and checked to see if there was money inside. Kind of upsetting to spend hundreds of dollars with family to see a waiter going through your gf's birthday card and also to know that they could have taken the tips for the waiter.

This place is excellent. They were very quick to seat us, the food was absolutely amazing. perfectly cooked. Refills were done almost without asking. Everyone friendly and attentive.

Had an amazing time at Daruma. With the Hibachi experience, a Love boat of sushi and the in-house piano player the experience was amazing.

The last time I was there was to celebrate a birthday. The food just didn’t taste the same. I was overcharged and most likely won’t be back.

Hostess are terrible. We had a reservation at 7. Showed up 5 minutes early was the only family waiting and then 4 other families come in running late and they sit them first. Then they go call another group on the phone to ask if they are coming. Make us wait for them to arrive and then sit them first. Keep in mind I have 2 hungry kids asking me why our family has to wait for everyone who is late to sit before us. We have celebrated all our birthdays here come here very often to be treated like this…
