We went to Sofia's after church to celebrate my daughters First Communion. The owner had the tables ready for our large party and treated us like we were family! We enjoyed the food. It was delicious and authentic. He even made a special cake for my daughters. He came out to make sure we were happy and entertained us with his great sense of humor. Our waitress was also perfect! My friends and family all raved about the experience and we can't wait to go back again! Highly recommend Sofia's Trattoria!

We stopped at this restaurant on our way to Naples and I am so glad we did! The ambiance was calming and the service was great - our waiter, Julio, was attentive and accommodating - he offered to make a special pasta with butter sauce for my children.Between my husband and I and my in-laws, we ordered the Cesar and Marybeth salads as well as the baked meatball appetizer. The Cesar was great, but the Marybeth was the winner - it was a great combination of flavors. The meatballs were out of this world - very moist and flavorful with a wonderful tomato sauce. For entrees, we tried the eggplant parmigiana, pollo parmigiana, pollo limoncello, and veal traverso. The entrees were the perfect size and prepared well. For dessert, we had crème puffs, cream brûlée, and a cannoli. All were delicious, but the crème brûlée was the best I've ever had.The food was phenomenal, but the true star of the experience (I call it an experience as we were there for around 2 hours) was the staff - Julio and Angelo were beyond kind. They made my kids feel not only welcome, but special! They brought them a special drink and special dessert. They constantly came over and checked on them and made sure they were giggling and having fun! At one point, my 4 year old dropped a fork on floor and I asked her to be careful and to keep her voice down - Angelo quickly came over and assured us it was okay and that we need to "let the kids be kids". It's clear he truly adores children and treats all patrons as they are family. If you want a special experience where your family will feel like they are visiting the home of a dear relative (who is also a great chef!) for dinner, this is it!Kid-friendliness: Angelo made my kids feel so special! He interacted with each of them and brought them special dishes

In the spot that was formerly Fiorella Italian restaurant is now Sophia’s Trattoria, a beautiful, cozy, romantic place with delicious food and a wonderful staff team. We were greeted by the head Chef and seated at crisp, white candlelit table. We let the Chef choose our appetizers. First came out a wonderful pan-style bread with excellent marinara, so I knew this place was legit. He then brought out a wheel of cheese and prepared a pasta dish with ricotta filled hand-formed purses in an Alfredo sauce that was perfectly flavored and perfectly cooked. Entrees were a veal dish, eggplant Parmesan and rigatoni. All were excellent with good portions. The wine was delicious and so was the Chef ?- a charming Italian gentleman with a big smile and a bigger heart. I even got a tour of the kitchen, which was clean, stocked, and helmed by a wonderful chef. If we are ever in the area again, we will be back! Also- perfect for date night!Kid-friendliness: This really not a restaurant for families. More for intimate dinners with friends or loved ones.

We dined here after having dined with Angelo at LWR Main Street. This was an incredibly personal experience. Angelo brought our dinner out in the cheese wheel, which added incredible flavor to our already wonderful pasta. The food was rich in flavor and the portions were just right. We will definitely be back soon!

Chef Angelo has exceeded expectations once again. We dined with him prior when we was on LWR Main Street and his new restaurant is better then the last! The food was amazing, from the appetizer, to the main course, to dessert! We had the Marylin Rigatoni which was the absolute best! This location makes it feel like you are eating at Angelo’s house with how welcoming it is. The service was outstanding as well with our waiter Julio being so prompt and caring! We will return and I highly recommend this restaurant! 5/5 stars!

I worked in the service industry for two decades… truthfully I’m not wowed too often. Tonight… I was wowed!! If there was an option for more than five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I would put it here. Categorically, hands down the BEST eating experience I have ever had in Sarasota. The small restaurant charm with the love and passion of all of Italy, that’s the best way to put it. Food was unreal, wine was amazing, and the service was unparalleled. 10 out of 10!

We happened to have a reservation 10 days after Angelo had a bad car accident. We had no idea and showed up at our reserved time. Tommy thought he had cancelled all reservations, but somehow, not ours. Angelo was in the kitchen prepping to reopen on Thursday, so we stopped to see him and wish him well. He INSISTED we stay and he wanted to cook for us, because, as he said, "we are like family." Of course, we refused! If you know Angelo, you know our efforts were futile. Out of all that bad luck and pain, he made us an amazing dinner and a memory for a lifetime. And then two more tables arrived...and he did the same for them! Angelo, we love you so very much! Excellent, authentic Italian food in Chef Angelo's restaurant because he is from Italy and received his chef training there. I highly recommend this as a great place to dine.
