Server and owner both came to the table several times to check on us. Despite the chill outside, the heaters were sufficient to keep us warm. The food was not as exceptional as I was hoping it would be. Sushi rolls were a bit lacking in flavor. Also, the special rolls at about $19-26 should be more filling than they were. Wok fry was good but also smaller portion. Ambience is lovely on the patio but the menu needs a bit more pop in taste than it reads.
Went on Valentine's Day and was surprised by a reduced menu - pretty much half the normal menu. No steaks other than a $110 ribeye with shrimp... Reservation was at 7:30 but they were already out of one of the appetizers (Spring Rolls). Gyoza appeared almost immediately after we ordered that and the Trio of the Sea sushi dish The gyoza was a little undercooked, with no cripsy edges, but tasted fine. The sushi appeared several minutes later (fortunately we were sharing and not left with one person eating at a time), and was essentially 6 pieces of nigiri tuna, salmon, and yellow tail. Mediocre and certainly not worth $33. Our entrees arrived and trying to conjure up a valentine's theme had lots of rose petals on each dish. Nothing was said about them being edible and they certainly didn't look edible. The halibut was good, but the red snapper dish was terrible. Looked and tasted like it had been made hours earlier. Lots and lots of rice and sauce, but quantity doesn't mean quality. Presentation was sorely lacking too. Just not a good experience... massively over priced for the quality of food. So many good food options in SRQ so need to go back. Overall feels like Gordon Ramsay is a phone call away from coming in to sort out whatever is going on here...
Arrived for a 7:00 reservation at 6:30 and approached the bar . Was greeted wonderfully at a packed bar by Jerrod who was professional and pleasant . Jerrod took our drink order promptly and served us quickly . Old Fashions were fantastic. We were seated in the Courtyard on time . Outdoor tables were 50 full . Waitress was a little slow to greet us . We ordered a sushi appetizer initially and then our entree . About 30 min later all the food arrived at once by the runner . Obviously not what we preferred . I had the halibut and my girl had the Shrimp and scallops . Halibut was prepared great and served with nice vegetables . The Shrimp and Scallops were perfectly cooked as well .Very pleased with the food . Sushi was very good . Nice portion and presented well . Waitress attentiveness for water etc was slow . She seemed very new and inexperienced .Food delay and staging was my only complaint mostly . Managers were circulating often apologizing but not dressed very professionally .
1st time to a restaurant that did not serve coffee!! or ice cream. Management and staff seemed very confused about their menu. The place was lovely but definitely needs new guidance.
I rated food and ambience without the dining experience because I could not get to the review screen without doing so. We had a reservation for Saturday evening, which was made 2 weeks prior with the request for an inside table. When we arrived, we were told there were no tables available inside due to other patrons arriving early. Needless to say, it was very disappointing since we were all looking forward to dining there. The host offered no apology and seemed to stumble over his explanation as to why our table was given to other diners. We went to Element and they were so kind - squeezed us in and we enjoyed a wonderful and delicious meal with excellent service.
I had been to Rose & Ivy once before and liked it very much. I especially liked the building and the second floor. Last night we were seated outdoors in what appeared to be a bar and lunch area for our dinner. We had 2 heaters and there was obnoxious disco style music. We did not get to share in the charm of the building. The food was just fine, nothing special. We will not be returning.
I thought we would have a gotten a better table since they weren't busy. Didn't want to sit next to the door, so they did move us.
Everything was very good. Sorry we could come on a Friday or Saturday so we could have heard the pianist ...next time.
Food was excellent, wait staff was attentive. However, the noise level made it difficult to have a conversation with my husband. It was our first time there and we are glad we tried it but don't plan to return in the near future.
We have been to Rose and Ivy many times and always had good food and good service. This time was noticeably different. Servers seemed new and inexperienced. We needed to wave our arms to get a server's attention. Poke nachos had less than half the tuna compared to our past experiences. The bill came with multiple items that we did not order or receive. All in all, not what we had expected from a place that had always been solid in the past.

Salmon was flavorful, but a bit overcooked. Shrimp bowl was wonderful! Good service, a bit more followup would have been nice, but otherwise a nice experience.
Rose & Ivy never disappoints! The sushi is so fresh and delicious in every bite. The sushi rolls are innovative but perfect in their taste and presentation. We ate in the courtyard which was charming with the best and very knowledgeable server Alex. She was great and made the night special. The rest of the table staff were kind, courteous, and professional. An A+ location for delicious sushi! Can't wait to return!!
We loved the convenience to the opera house, but the food and service are just wonderful! I had the miso soup, delicious as starter. Very pleasant, great ambience, we will be steady customers!
We dined at the bar and enjoyed every minute. Jared the bartender was attentive and provided great service. Food was terrific as always. Two orders fried shrimp on lettuce, one shumai dumplings and two large sushi rolls was a great dinner before neighboring Florida State Theater show "Lucky Stiff", along with several glasses of wine and beer.
Fantastic experience - a hidden gem, a must try this place. The best filet in town, great sushi, love the food and the atmosphere, sit outside or inside - music, cool vibe, great place to take a date or spouse. I highly recommend as one of the best in Sarasota.
