Gentile's Authentic Philadelphia Cheesesteaks

Don’t know how to rate this but this restaurant is closed, it’s not a thing (as of 10/22/25). Done or remodeling or whatever but sign is taken down and doors are locked, no info posted. Needs to be taken off Google.

Best Philly ive had this far from Philly.

They have Wiz, fresh meat and veggies... but its the bread that really drives it home.

Dont skip these guys if youre visiting.

Meh. It’s probably as close as you can get around here, but it’s nothing to write home about. A for effort. I am from 18th and shunk, so all criticism is based on real life experiences.

They are the very best phillies in Sarasota!! Please say they didn't close?!?!?!? Come back. Sarasota has no quality food or restaurants anymore. And you still have to pay $100+++ to even get remote quality for a family dinner out. We need to take care of our small businesses because they need us and we need them!!

When was the last time you were still hungry after eating a cheesesteak? Tried Gentile Cheesesteaks in Sarasota. No way is this a Philly cheesesteak. Cold roll, little meat, cheese, little onion, very dry. In Philly we eat cheesesteaks standing up, leaning forward, cause the juices drip from the roll. Gentile is sad! ... Philly gal

Recently got back to FL from Philly! I needed this! It made it feel like home! HANDS DOWN THE BEST CHEESE STEAK IN FL! if you write a bad review you’re not from Philly. I forget the guys name but he’s a true professional behind the grill. ?

Great cheese steak!!! Not an expert but I know what I like. Having been in Philly this summer tried the likes of Carmen's in the Reading Market, which was pretty good, and Dellasandro's, which was EXCELLENT...I would rate Gentile's very close to Dellasandro's. That is high praise in my book. The only knock might be the whiz (cheese) to meat ratio might have been slightly high... but better that than too low. Again, I'm no expert just a FL boy searching for great eats... and this place DEFINITELY DELIVERS!!!
BTW, daughter had the Italian hoagie and she LOVED IT!!! Also, fries and onion rings were on point!
Do yourself a favor... come and get some!!!

Yes, it’s down the Trail from town, but this is the only place to get a real Philly cheesesteak in Sarasota. Family run and caring, it’s a friendly place to eat in or take out from. If you’re ordering for pick-up on Friday or Saturday, make sure you call early enough — they’re so popular, they sometimes run out of rolls. Worth it!!!!
