Joey D's Chicago Style Eatery & Pizzeria

I am from Chicago and have a home in Sarasota. Joey D's is the best beef in the state of Florida and their pizza is extremely close to Lou Malnattis. I give this place a 5 stars out of 5 stars. Ezra is an awesome manager. Friendly and professional.

Overall the food was good and would eat there again. Had a Chicago dog which was as expected... delicious! Also had a Chicago deep dish which was very good. Came out surprisingly fast but hit all the right notes. I'd rate the dog a solid 5 and the pie, I'd round up to a 4. Also had fried mushrooms to start and I would avoid these in the future. They actually tasted fine but they were still slightly cool in the center! Could have sent back but typically don't bother UNLESS truly repulsed by something. Obviously they are frozen and they drop in fryer OR bake up to temp... they just needed an extra bit of time.
Service was less than stellar. Didn't seem too busy but we were kind of forgotten in the corner. No refills, waited for the check, got out own to-go box to speed up process. She started out strong then just went downhill. Think she said there was an issue in kitchen... but our food was already served so it was the follow up??
All that said, I would visit again. They do a good Chicago style. Not quite a Lou Malnati's or Giordano's but good for Florida.

We have been to this and their Venice location and everything was amazing. Not today. My husband’s combo was great but the personal pizza I received was dry and almost no sauce. After 15 minutes, the server finally came by we mentioned it. He took it back and I could loudly hear maybe the manager loudly saying “why did they eat it?”. As mentioned, if the server had ever checked in, we would have sent it back sooner. We also didn’t appreciate a man and woman in back SCREAMING at each other in Spanish. While they did end up comping my pizza, it was a lousy experience and won’t go back to this location.

I travel a lot for work and typically will try different restaurants each night when I'm at a location. On this trip I spent three nights here on the first night I tried this place and the food was absolutely amazing, prices were reasonable, and the staff very friendly. I tried a different meal every night and every single thing I bought tasted amazing. Kudos to a job well done when I'm in this area I will be eating here again.

I’ve only ever had deep dish from Chicago and have never tried any in Sarasota. Needless to say I am thoroughly impressed. It tasted just like home. 100/10 Joey Ds thank you?

We had visited this place many times before with our service dog. Today the manager told us we couldn't come in with a dog. When we told him he was a service dog, he said no he's not. He did not ask us the two questions permissible to ask of a service dog. We also had he documentation to prove he was a service dog but the manager didn't bother to wait for us to show it to him. He walked away and proceeded to call the police. We left and went somewhere else. Such a shame as the food here is very good

It’s been awhile since I’ve eaten at Joey Ds. We went to Bee Ridge location and had the most delightful server Alana! She made our visit so enjoyable. Food was great as well .
