We went with a friend from Hungary and he said the food was very good. The rest of us agreed, not truly knowing what we were eating, only that the flavor was outstanding. It was an experience and very tasty. Don't go if you're rushed. Give yourself time to enjoy the food and the folks the run the place. You'll be glad you did.

I am giving 3 stars for large portions and pricing. Coming from Germany , I know schnitzel whether pork or chicken so we were excited to go. The chicken schnitzel was frozen, terrible coating and deep fried in grease that had not been cleaned. You could only taste the oil. I bought similar frozen schnitzel from ALDI’s and I am convinced that is what they served. Terrible. All 3 of our meals were not very good. Their homemade noodles were great, gravy okay. Cucumber salad was not for me because it was sweet which I didn’t expect nor enjoy.

The Hungarian restaurant in Bradenton, Vernona, is absolutely amazing! We especially loved the chicken paprikash — it was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The desserts were delicious, the service was outstanding, and the guitarist created such a warm and lively atmosphere. Highly recommended! The only thing I would suggest is using softer yellow lighting to create a warmer and cozier atmosphere. The fluorescent lights give a bit of a hospital feel, which doesn’t match the otherwise wonderful ambiance of the restaurant.
We just had one of the best meals at Vernona this evening. They served an amazing eastern Hungarian special (for September). It was amazing. It was a 3 course meal for two with a bottle of amazing Hungarian wine. The portions were very generous and the food was perfectly prepared. It was served hot and perfectly seasoned. The dessert was a delightful surprise!
Growing up in a Hungarian household this really brought back great memories. It was also a wonderful value as well!
Our server Sylvia was outstanding. Warm, friendly and totally attentive even though she had a very large number of guests to serve. Bravo!
The dining room was casual and extremely comfortable.
They also regularly host special events which are all wonderful. I believe that there is a wine tasting next week which we plan to attend.
I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant in our community.

My husband and I can't get enough of Vernona's. I want to try everything on the menu. Every dish we've had so far has been *chef's kiss* amazing. We love the Farmer's Platter, Berry Crepes, and the goulash. Today, for breakfast, I had perfectly poached eggs over Hungarian meatloaf with mouthwatering mushroom gravy. I'll definitely order it again. Don't forget to order dessert!

Had lunch at Vernona Gourmet and ordered the stuffed cabbage — and wow, it stuffed me right into a food coma (in the best way possible)! Perfectly seasoned meat and rice wrapped in tender cabbage, basically a hug from Hungary on a plate. If you leave hungry, that’s on you!

I had another perfect lunch at Vernona Gourmet! This time I tried the Brassói, and it was fantastic. The tender, perfectly seasoned pork, golden potatoes, and fresh spices created a rich, hearty flavor that reminded me of true Hungarian home cooking. Excellent service and cozy atmosphere as always. Highly recommend!
