Everything was so good! Our server, Teal, was wonderful. She was very attentive, helpful, and made our experience even better. Food was delicious and presented beautifully. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Would 100% come back whenever I am in St. Pete.
We had the most delicious birthday dinner here the other night. Everything was perfect and delicious! Bailey was wonderful too. We will be back. Thank you :)
Made our evening to eat here -- every bite was outstanding -- loved the spreads, baba hummus, fava bean orzo, mezcal cocktail
... all ridiculously good with exceptional service and ambiance on the outside patio
Great location
A bit too loud and slow service for food
This place is significantly overpriced for what they offer. We ordered the grouper for $38, which was delicious but only about 4 ounces. The octopus at $22 was fairly priced, but the eggplant dip appetizer was just 1.5 ounces for $16. When I asked for more, they charged me extra. To top it off, they're asking $69 for branzino, which you can find for $38 in NYC. While I appreciate quality, I expect fair treatment, not price gouging. The ambiance is lovely, but the service could improve, and management really needs to address the discrepancies between portion sizes and prices. I'm tired of hearing that everything has gone up—this is excessive. If you want to leave feeling unsatisfied, be my guest.

Fantastic flavors — but the portions are tiny, and the prices are steep.
My partner and I visited Baba in St. Pete’s based on a local recommendation. The Mediterranean flavors were truly excellent — the octopus, grouper, and eggplant appetizer were all delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared.
But the portions? Shockingly small. The grouper, according to the manager, was 5 ounces — it felt closer to 4 — and cost $39. The eggplant appetizer was maybe one ounce, priced at $16. Everything was à la carte — we were even charged for an extra pita. Our total came to $77, and we left hungry. The manager kindly took $9 off, which we appreciated, but it didn’t change the overall value.
While Google lists the restaurant as “$$”, this felt much more like a “$$$$” experience in terms of pricing. The current 4.3-star rating reflects the food quality, which we agree with — but for the overall experience, we’d give it a 3 star rating
Bottom line: The food is outstanding, no doubt. But unless you’re okay spending fine-dining prices for tasting-menu portions, be prepared — and maybe have a snack after.
And
Sunday night, I headed to Baba for some lamb chops after seeing the good reviews. Very disappointed. Presentation amazing! Eating is awful. Upon cutting the chops open, Sous Vide overcooked nasty - see that mush? That's when the muscle fibers break down excessively, and the connective tissues begin to disintegrate. Result? No flavor. It's a common issue these days, as restaurants often fail to manage their cook. Potatoes were lovely. Wine was great, and well priced. If a restaurant is preparing the lamb with sous vide, they should tell you, in my view. I'll be back as it's a cool place, so long as Baba can grill my lamb and dump their lazy sous vide recipe, which ruined what was a very nice piece of meat before cooking.
It was good and tasty but quite expensive for what you get. You may leave a little hungry still.

The limited menu and cost vs portions are not for me. I understand the concept, and appreciate your craft. I felt the value of what I received was over priced. $5 sm side of hummus/feta. Sub $40 price for a half portion of chicken. The return on my enjoyment wasn't there.

We had reservations for a party of ten. Upon arrival, they attempted to seat us at two tables, one 6 top and a 4 top. This was because they " already had a party of 10 and a party of 14." Upon asking if we could put the 2 tables together, the answer was an unequivocal no. Mind you, this was outdoor seating with several.vacant tables. We said our party would be arriving and ordering at different times, that this would not overwhelm the kitchen. Nope. Could we move the tables near each other so we could talk as one group? Nope.

I truly enjoyed my experience at Baba. I am one of four walk-in customers who left full and grateful. We ordered a little bit of everything and it was all delicious including both homemade desserts ??. My husband has Celiacs Disease and was accommodated by the lovely and caring waitress.

Initial review: We walked by multiple times when they first opened up because the menu and prices didn’t appeal to us. But they just redone the menu and the prices are more reasonable so we decided to give it a try, glad we did. Everything we ordered was delicious, only the mussels could have had some more flavor. Will definitely come back:
Updates Early 2024: We have been here countless times. Has been our go to spot close to home. Unfortunately, prices went up, portion seize decreased and the bread is not the same anymore. This has been “justified” by we’re doing tapas style portions now. But comparing it to previous menus it’s clear you pay about a 3rd or more for everything while having smaller portions.
Updated late 2024: Despite previous experience, we came here again with our friend. Dip portions are even smaller, extra bread for dips has been reduced to plain pita instead of seasoned bread and different crusty bread. Served seemed to be a bit off and on edge, had to call for him multiple times to order food and drinks . Very empty for a prime time dinner time on a weekend. All in all no improvement and it seems to go in an undesired dir.

This place is a hidden gem. Great ambiance and the food was great. Only wish is a wider selection on the menu. But otherwise wonderful place to have dinner.

Legitimately my favorite restaurant in the Bay area. Consistently amazing food, great service, and the patio is always the best vibe. Really, I’ve never had a meal here that wasn’t incredible.
It’s for sure our go-to place for every birthday/anniversary/etc.
Thank you, Baba. You’re a gem
