Bonu' Taverna Italiana

Been coming here regularly for a while but so disappointed by my recent experience. Clueless host that put a party of six at a small table and when I asked if we could get a bigger table she said no, dining room was empty.. she proceeded to seat a table behind us leaving both parties with no room. The server wasn’t friendly and lacked table maintenance. Definitely going to reconsider coming back.

Great food..

I I hate writing negative reviews, but I spent close to $90 (for just my side) for a shared appetizer with a friend, one glass of wine and the special risotto. The Risotto sounded so good, had cheese, zucchini and cripy procuitto. I litterally got about 12 small crispy pieces of procuitto, not sure what happened to the zucchini, rice was under cooked and the dish was green - i guess maybe it was colored zucchini - and it had almost NO taste to it. it was just like eating a bunch of undercooked white rice. The appetizer was good, but for the pricing here, it should be fantastic tastes.

Delicious food (fig prosciutto pizza and pesto pasta with burrata) and Aperol spritzes. The complimentsry limoncello and salted chocolate gelato were a nice touch. But the warm hospitality is what will bring me back. Antonio and crew made us feel so welcome.

So happy to add another restaurant to my short list of places where I can confidently bring out-of-town guests, knowing they'll have a great experience.

Bonu also does an excellent job with vegetarian dishes without making anyone at the table feel like they're settling. The flavors and quality are outstanding, whether you order meat or not. Our server recommended the Porcini pasta, and it ended up being one of the highlights of the meal: rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.

We started with cocktails, and both the Viola and Roma were beautifully crafted. Every pasta dish arrived perfectly al dente, and everyone at the table loved their meal. The personal-sized pizzas were equally impressive, with quality ingredients and a crisp, well-executed crust.

The service was impeccable. Our server was absolutely on his A-game -- attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic without ever being overbearing.

I left thoroughly impressed and am already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommended.

This place hit the trifecta for me: poor service, awful pizza, and overpriced. The server came by precisely three times: once to take our order (we waited quite a while), once to (sort of) check on us, and once to give us our bill (after I waited 10 minutes for someone to clear the table and give us our bill, and then finally got up and asked the hostess to have our server bring the bill).

Pizza, which had two vegetables and cost $32, was awful, at least to our tastes. You would need a microscope and tweezers to find the mozzarella, and the generous supply of mushrooms tasted stronger -- and that's not a compliment, for us -- then any I've ever had. I love mushrooms but found myself removing all of them. We barely got down a couple squares and then gave it to a homeless person, to whom I apologized for the quality.

By the way, the Italian gentlemen who served the table next to us seemed incredibly solicitous, warm, and a constant presence, so apparently we just got unlucky when it came to servers. (Ours was nice but AWOL.)

This place is a gem! Awesome upbeat music and super food and drinks. Loved the Roma drink and risotto balls! Pizza is very good and wife loved her espresso martini

We love coming here! You can truly taste the authentic Italian ingredients — they make all the difference. The food is absolutely delicious, the service is always spot on, and having the owners there making sure everything runs smoothly is the cherry on top.

Great menu and great service. Owner greets you when you arrive. Very happy they moved to open table so we can make a reservation. Zach was our waiter and is very knowledgeable about the wine list and picking exactly what we would like. They took the salmon off the menu but can still prepare it if you ask. My friends had homemade pasta with short rib and the lasagna. We all had clean plates. Yummy Italian spot in DTSP.

Host was extremely rude. Food and service at dinner was amazing. Best Italian food I've had! Fresh pasta!!

Just a wonderful experience, as always!!The food is authentic and elevated. We celebrated my husbands birthday and enjoyed everything from drinks to dessert. Favorite Resturant in St Pete!!

We had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Bonu last night. It is easily one of the best dining experiences we've had in a while. • The Ambiance: The restaurant has a fantastic vibe—sophisticated yet cozy. The lighting and decor create an intimate, upscale atmosphere that is perfect for a special occasion or a high-end weekend dinner. • The Service: A huge shoutout to Morgan, who took our experience from great to exceptional. Morgan was incredibly attentive, timed our courses perfectly, and gave us some "must-try" menu recommendations that were 10/10. It's rare to find service this polished and friendly. • The Food: Every plate that came out of the kitchen was a hit. The ingredients are clearly fresh and high-quality. From the perfectly seasoned appetizers to the authentic, handmade pasta, the flavors were balanced and delicious. Bonu is a true gem. Between the beautiful setting and the top-notch hospitality from Morgan, we will definitely be returning soon!
