Very sad it is now closed.
UPDATE: Too bad now Wepa St Pete is closed for good.
The flavor and presentation of the food is 5 stars and at very good price. Service is outstanding. Real Latin fusion cuisine. We had a surprisingly good experience at Wepa St Pete.
Came in from out of town without knowing what to expect. Justin was very patient with us and friendly. The sangrias were delicious. As a Puerto Rican that was missing home and the food, I was ecstatic to find the food was authentic and just like my family makes it on the island. Thank you for the great service and see you all again soon.
Tried calling and the phone is out of service; hours listed on google show only Sunday 5-8(?), and Facebook shows they were on vacation in early June, but should have returned. Can anyone confirm?
Excellent service, and the food is delicious. Sadly they only open limited hours because they can't find good worker's.
Great food. Fyi its a single chef is cooking so food outage is slow, but worth it.
My experience at WEPA was beyond horrible. I brought one of my friends and raved to her about how delicious the service was. We got there 5 minutes after the restaurant opening with high expectations. We left almost 2 hours after being there without having eaten our entree. Understandably during COVID service may not be as fast at the restaurant level or at the supplier level. We ordered appetizers and were informed they did not have the one we ordered... okay no problem so we ordered another. We had to wait a while for them but figured by the time our food came our apps would be done. Not the case. After waiting for over an hour from the time we ordered, without any updates from our server, with empty glasses of water on the table, with our server ignoring us when we said, ‘excuse me....’ we finally decided to ask for the bill for what we had. We had to speak with a few different servers for a language barrier. One said our food was next, another said 30 minutes. After waiting two tables that came in and ordered after us get their food we knew we didn’t want to wait around. The chef then became argumentative and made comments about my friend and me (in English so we were sure to overhear) which further upset my friend and me. The restaurant ended up giving us our meals to go after blaming how wasteful it would be on us... no... you wasted OUR time and with no communication and no internet to make the situation better we left fuming and absolutely would NOT recommend and will NOT go back. Nor will I ever be recommending this establishment or bringing anyone here ever again.
Preface: I fully understand that all restaurants are facing staffing shortages and food availability. As I support my local businesses, I go in with the understanding that good food takes time and that especially now, we need to be patient and understanding. That being said, I was very disappointed with my dining experience at WEPA. I arrived shortly after it opened at 4 pm. There were two tables seated. My table of two placed our order relatively quickly as by 4:30 other parties were starting to come in. We received our appetizers, but after an hour and a half, our waters were empty and there were no entrees in sight. Two other tables, one a large party of 6+ were seated after us and both received their entrees before my party did. One ate and paid the bill. It was difficult to flag our waitress down, so I asked another server for a water refill and asked if she could send our server over for an update on our entrees. We received conflicting information on how much longer it would take (10 and 35 minutes). We made the decision to ask for the check and leave. I got the impression the servers were not happy with this. I would not have left a review for this alone but what upset me was that someone went to tell Chef, who proceeded to yell loudly enough in English so we could overhear him how ridiculous we were being and how he could not believe how rude we were. I had tried to be diplomatic and tactful for the entire exchange and his response was incredibly unprofessional. There are so many amazing places to patronize in saint pete. I'd eat somewhere maybe less good with better service that go somewhere. If Chef had been truly upset, he could have come to the table and engaged in authentic dialogue. I was open to a conversation but not to aggressive behavior. Will not go back. Hope others have a better experience.
I cannot say enough about this place. Every meal has been incredible from flavor to presentation and everything in between. The staff are not only friendly but they remember you. This is something I can appreciate in a world that praises corporate franchises. Please support this local gem! One of the best restaurants in St Pete, hands down!
Wepa made me feel like I was back in Puerto Rico. The food, drinks & music really captured the essence of that beautiful island. Although it took a while to be served, it was totally worth the wait! My family and I would love to come here again and try out more delicious plates. We hope to see this restaurant grow in business & continue to show more locals that latino flavor.

My first time here and the moment I stepped in the door I knew it was the right decision. The smells were off the chart delicious. The menu is in Spanish and English. The food comes piping hot to the table, and lots of it. Diamond Service. I tell everyone...
Food was great!! BUT being that this was my 1st time here had an awful experience. Somehow my order got lost and I waited almost 2hrs for my food to arrive. Then there was this older man in there coughing half his lung and wasn't wearing a mask. Nobody (staff) told him to put on a mask
WEPA is a true treasure a piece of paradise outside the Island of Puerto Rico. The chef and his crew are masters at what they do. Juan Carlos your service was extraordinary!!! Will go again!!!
Such amazing food, awesome staff and atmosphere! I will continue to bring people here and share this place because it is unique and delicious every time ? A+++
Hubby and I happened upon Wepa for lunch. Small and quaint inside. Appetizers were ok. Took advise and had the Passion Fruit Sangria. It was very good. Second one was just as lovely! The meals were very fresh and delicious. I had the shrimp in white wine sauce and husband had the fried pork. The tri-fongo was super. We both loved our dishes. Service was nice and waitress Jessica gave excellent suggestions.
