Used to come here when it was McGowens. I know it's changed hands a few times since they closed but to walk in here & see the lighter, fresher colors was amazing. Nothing against McGowen's - it was a pub afterall, but it felt so new. And having mostly lighter fare (seafood, chicken, vegetarian choices) helped give this a delightful venue to try. Normally I always take pics but I forgot this time. They still have multiple draft options but they also include a daiquiri list (not frozen) & Mojito choices. I tried the grilled pineapple mojito & Hemingway daiquiri - both very good! My husband & I ordered the grilled jalapeño corn dip & the roasted garlic and white bean bruschetta to start, I chose the (half size) goat cheese & beet salad while my hubby had the southern smash burger! My experience at Rae's was pleasant! The window seatings make it feel upscale but with a cozy touch of dimmed lighting. The service is great, we were greeted immediately while walking in. The server was patient in waiting for our little catch up conversation. They were able to accommodate a virgin cocktail for my pregnant friend. The food tasted delicious! Being a vegetarian, I appreciate the multiple options they offered. I'm impressed with the greens, it's not the common house side salad but more of mixed spring greens w/ cucumbers! I loved it! I hope that they would consider adding soup to the sides on the menu. It would go great with their salad or handhelds.

My husband and I came for dinner - my first visit here. Our server, Emma, was very pleasant, friendly, and just attentive enough but not overly so. The restaurant has a pleasant, neutral, airy decor. The menu is a bit limited and is said to change seasonally. Both of our handheld entrees - Crab Cake BLT and Southern Smashburger - were cooked to perfection and delicious, although maybe just a tad pricey. The beer and wine selection is very good, and the custom cocktails were creative and priced as expected. We would like to see a wider range of options on the menu at slightly lower price points - maybe a few apps under $10 and handhelds under $15? A dinner of two handhelds and two drinks each (no apps or dessert) was $99 with a standard 20 percent tip. We will be back, but not as frequently as we might at these prices.

I previously went to this restaurant and ordered the steak frites and loved them. I ordered them today and they were not the same. They were very tough (cooked medium), lacked flavor, and tasted like a dirty grill. I let the manager know and I told her I would like to substitute the steak for the half chicken and she told me “they didn’t have fried chicken”. I never asked for fried chicken. As a Black woman, I found that insulting that she would be blatantly racist and assume since I am Black I would want fried chicken. Micro aggressions like this are unacceptable and I don’t believe she would have made that statement to me if I was white. I ended up receiving a chicken breast instead (she told me substituting the half chicken on the menu would be an up charge even though the chicken was $4 cheaper than the steak). The grilled chicken was also bland and tasted like a dirty grill. Overall, I will never go to Rae’s again and I will let others know as well. Save your money, go to mom and dads!

Very good experience here. Came in and sat down immediately. Wait staff came within a minute. Food was good — I had crab cakes and my husband had the grouper sandwich - which he was hoping would have a bit more horseradish flavor but that’s just him. They ran out of crab cakes so I had only 2 but the manage came over in advance and explained everything and gave a discount and was just spot on how she handled that. Great manager— her name is Tori. That’s how you do customer service.
Great addition to Bannerman Crossing! Awesome selection of beer, wine and cocktails in a beautiful setting. We had the Steak and Gumbo and everything was excellent.

Went in for a light lunch and stayed for a full meal and a couple of hours. It’s become my regular spot ever since. The staff is always so kind, inclusive and knowledgeable of the menu. I was pleasantly surprised at the array of items available for lunch, most of which have been outstanding. The holiday cocktail menu was by far the highlight of my most recent visit (The Christmas Morning is a must try!) Truly a Northside gem!

Our new favorite casual spot on the North side of town. Bartenders and food were great. Had the lobster roll, burger, and grouper sandwich and can enthusiastically reccommend all three. Our 12 yo even said the burger is better than 5 guys, which is high praise from him!
