I love this place! They cooked everything just the way I like it. The manager and the staff checked on us as they went by. Kept the water glasses full. Have enjoyed this place several times even though I live in Crawfordville. Ross - Silverado Band
We made the mistake of visiting Tally Fish House today for what was supposed to be a pleasant family dinner. What we got instead was an ordeal that lasted over two hours, just to wait for our oysters. Initially, we were told by our waitress that the wait would be merely 30 minutes, but it stretched into what felt like an eternity.
To add insult to injury, the oysters came out in dribs and drabs - one dozen every 20 minutes or so. Each time, the basic accompaniments like crackers, cocktail sauce, and horseradish were not provided without us having to ask repeatedly. This was not just inconvenient; it was disrespectful to us as paying customers.
Watching tables that were seated well after us receive their orders promptly was the final straw. It was clear that the service was not just slow due to being understaffed but was also uneven and poorly managed.
This experience completely ruined our family dinner and soured what was supposed to be a celebratory evening. We will never be going back to Tally Fish House, and I strongly advise others to steer clear unless you enjoy frustration with your meal.

I’m hoping it was just an off night. Server must have been new also. Took a few minutes to get to us.. like she didn’t know we were sat.. Wife ordered the lobster roll. Tasted like last nights leftovers. No flavor and rubbery. The side was cheese grits served under lukewarm warm. (They were kinda enough to serve this to us twice) Microwave must have been broke. I ordered the Captain platter with a side salad ranch dressing. The salad arrived with blue cheese and a side of Cesar dressing. Made for an interesting meal. The platter itself was bad. But wasn’t all the good either. The blackened seasoning wasn’t overly seasoned. I got 2 fried oysters about choked on the breading. Crab cake wasn’t the most flavorful item either. There were 2 scallops and 5 of 6 shrimp 3inch squared grouper filet.
Next time I’d save yourself a few bucks and find a better place to dine.

The food was not worth the price. I got the captains platter fried. Half of the shrimp was lightly cooked and several were dark brown with a hard batter. The hush puppies were over cooked. The crabcake was soggy and extremely fishy tasting. One of my son's got the captains platter blackened, he said the same thing about the crabcake and the hush puppies, and he also said the oysters were soggy with oil. My other son got the stuffed grouper which was two small pieces of grouper with a scoop of stuffing between them. And the service was very poor. Our waitress took forever to get to us. And then we had to ask another waitress for refills. This was our first and last time there. Big disappointment!

We had a great early dinner at Tally Fish House. They have specials every weekday, and Thursday is all-you-can-eat shrimp AND they have half-price wine, beer and mixed drinks during happy hour (weekdays 3-7, I think). All-we-could-eat turned out to be the first plateful they served us--9 huge shrimp perfectly fried (you can also order them prepared other ways). The shrimp tasted right off the boat with a perfect texture and sweetness. Their slaw and hushpuppies were very good. You also get a side dish, and my cheese grits were first rate--made with coarse country grits and very flavorful. My happy hour Simi chardonnay (@$4/glass) and my husband's local draft beer were a great value. We arrived before the dinner crowd, and our waitress was friendly, professional and on top of things.
The restaurant has great accessibility with parking right outside the door and easy access to tables which have plenty of room between them. We will definitely be back to Tally Fish House. I noticed they have whole Maine lobster dinners on Wednesday nights for $24.99!!

My husband and I had one of the worst brunch experiences we’ve ever encountered in Tallahassee. We arrived at the restaurant around 12:40, ordered our drinks and food, and waited 20 minutes for the bottomless mimosas to arrive. Unfortunately, they tasted like plain juice with no hint of prosecco.
The food took another 40 minutes to reach our table, and when it finally arrived, it was incredibly disappointing. My avocado toast was dreadful—bland avocado, canned tomatoes that tasted overwhelmingly of garlic, and bread that was nearly burnt. My husband’s dish wasn’t any better: waffles that were worse than a basic hotel breakfast and chicken tenders so dry they could rival the Sahara Desert.
Needless to say, we won’t be returning.

Terrible experience, took 15 minutes to get our drink order…was told , “ the bar was backed up “ , then 45 minutes to get our food, with no silver ware, my wife went inside and got the silver ware…Honestly, chicken tenders / waffles was my order, Have had better at a Waffle House. My wife, had avocado/toast/egg, barely edible. You might want to really consider, why are you even in business. We will NOT return and every chance we get will tell others the same

Ordered 5 meals and paid online through their website. They hadn’t even started on the order when I arrived 5 minutes past the scheduled pick up time.

My family ate there last night. I only give 2 stars because the oysters were good but my shrimp scampi was not good at all. Before going, I read some reviews that said the shrimp scampi was not good but I ordered it anyways because how can anyone mess up scampi, it's only olive oil, butter, and garlic, noodles and shrimp right? Well, let me tell you there was no garlic in it and there was some kind of cheese that did not taste good to me. It tasted very smoky and the shrimp were seasoned with red seasoning that was eatable/spicy but not what I ordered. To put my suffering into words that aren't too harsh, my tummy hurts, have diarrhea, and burning down there where it comes from the next morning. I will not ever eat there again. I went to bed hungry because I could only eat several shrimp and only a few bites of pasta, yuck!

We went there for mine and my wife’s anniversary dinner tonight. We got a dozen oysters which were decent. The waitress then took our dinner order, 30-40 minutes later, my wife’s dinner was delivered to the table, but mine was not (fried shrimp, fries, coleslaw). 10 minutes later, the waitress checked on us, and I told her I had not received my food. She said she would “check on it.” 40 minutes after that, my order still had not arrived. During this entire time, it was a struggle for the waitress to bring me two sweet teas and my wife two mixed drinks. Many other people were seated, ordered, and finished their meal before I politely asked for the check. The waitress closed out our check (minus my dinner order). When she delivered the receipt to the table, so that I could sign, she didn’t bring a pen. I couldn't take anymore and left. This could be a really good place, but I feel as though the staff and kitchen cannot keep up with the food orders.
