Went yesterday special occasion the wine salad and onion soup was great. The shrimp cocktail rubbery. My 8 oz Filet Mignon medium rare came out dry and 6 oz. I called the head waiter and it was fixed. My wife had roasted scallops and vegetables she reported it was mushy.We have gone 5 times since yesterday was the worst ever.

Being a fellow owner of restaurants in the Washington DC area. I first encountered Bern's in 1984. To everything I encountered on my first dining experience, everything from appetizers, steaks, side dishes with the main course was so much more than exquisite beyond belief! The upstairs dessert room wasn't completed as of my first visit. Desserts at the dinner table were beyond delightful.Beyond that the Wine List was thicker than the Manhattan phone book.I had the pleasure of enjoying Bert and Gert's hospitality more than twenty times in forty years.I am glad to see their son David is carrying on the excellent tradition his parents begin!!Gregory Schriver

WOW WOW WOW HOLY MOLY!!!!!! Best restaurant I ever ate In my life and I travel a lot!!! Better than London and New York and Dubai and every where ever. Best steak on earth like crazyyyyyy!! Truffle Mac and cheese was outstanding onion rings were phenomenal and the BEST French onion soup I’m dairy free but made an exception and so worth it!!!! Toffee cheesecake was INCREDIBLE! Btw I never write reviews you have to go or your stupid !!!

The segregation between the dining rooms is pretty evident: if you arrive at the restaurant without a collar shirt and sports jacket, you get seated in a casual dining room for the peasants, if you're dressed to impress you're seated in the fine dining room. Basically, you're judged and seated according to what you wear when we arrive and are about to be seated our hostess was about to escort us into the fine dining room and then turned around seated us in the other dining room. Food wise, for what we paid, it was worth it.

I've been there about 10 times. It is pure southern charm. Go dressed up and pretend you belong. The food is always good and perfect service. Splurge on the wine and get something exotic. Desert is served up stairs in the "desert room." If you eat here once or twice a year go for it.

We love Bern's Steak House and frequent them often, we ate their most recently on 04/13 for our Anniversary. Service was great, however the cook ruined my 14oz Chateaubriand - it was like a beef jerky hockey puck!!!, I didn't want to b* & complain as it would have taken way too long to get a new steak, and moreover wasn't going to make a scene on my anniversary of all days. The rest of our meal was great - but I was actually very upset and disappointed to get a $84.00 hockey puck for a steak...
Every thing about this restaurant was excellent the food the service atmosphere I had the Delmonico steak medium done very tasty and the sides unbelievableI loved the onion soup, but usually I ordered it without bread to lower the carbs. It was probably the best onion soup I ever had.After the meal, they took us on a tour to the kitchen that was very interesting and after that we went upstairs to take dessert, dessert to a different area it is very nicely. You have a little bit of privacy with your group and we were listening to music.

We made a reservation for our 23rd anniversary. We waited in a beautiful old worldly decorated foyer. After being seated we waited for about 10 minutes before our server came to our table. Once he got us going it was a great experience. The food was delicious and the tour of the restaurant and their wine cellar was a nice way to end the visit. We wanted to do the dessert room, but we were stuffed and got some dessert to go.

Hubby and I decided to visit Bern's since we had not been after the renovations. Happy to say much of its charm is still there. The bar is completely redone and looks lovely. We have been to Bern's quite a few times over the years. We haven't gone back in a while because it has been so difficult to get a reservation. We finally got in and I'm happy to report the food is still great. The service, however, I don't know... Maybe our server was having a bad day? So here are the things we did not love. He asked if this was our first time to which we let him know it was not then proceeded to put in our appetizers and ordered some wine. He then turned to the table next to us and did the same introduction, this table was new to Berms so he offered the wine cellar tour and asked about the dessert room. Now we have been to this establishment a few times and have always been offered these tours- but this time we did not get this offer. Strike one.Next while taking the order of the table next to us our server turned around- reached over our table (over our wine glasses and escargot appetizer) to grab our wine menu at the end of our table to give to the other table. Strike two.Finally, when we were done he asked if we saved room for dessert, and we said we had. He then asked us if we had been up there before to which we said yes and he responded with well then you know where to go." No sir we are not 100% sure, Bern's is a big place. He then walked us through the kitchen and left us there pointing at the stairs. Ok... so we saw ourselves up there. Strike 3.I will say the dessert room experience was much better and our dessert room waiter was great.Not sure what happened on this night but that put a damper after being excited that we finally snagged a reservation after so much time.

John our waiter was informative, friendly,attentive and made us feel special. All the kitchen staff, wine cellar guide and desert room people were all kind and friendly. The only thing that was not perfect is that it was rather noisy. But that was not the staff's fault that so many tables had boisterous people.Parking: Valet parking is $8. When spending $300+ on a night out, why quibble about $8? I personally like valet parking.
