Good flavorful food. I always get the oxtail but it is very inconsistent. Half the time it’s incredible and extremely tender with lots of sauce. The other half of the time it’s somewhat tough and barely any sauce. There must be 2 chefs. Overall good quality fast spot w generous portions

Honest Review of Jerk Hut - Downtown Tampa
As a regular customer at Jerk Hut downtown Tampa location, I have mixed feelings about the overall experience. I’ve dined here multiple times, and unfortunately, the quality of the food and service has been inconsistent. Some days, the meals are exceptional, but on other occasions, they fall short.
Today's visit was especially disappointing. My mac and cheese arrived cold, the curry chicken tasted as if it wasn't fresh, and the rice and peas had an off flavor. This isn’t the first time I’ve experienced this. On more than one occasion, the food has been served cold, and at times, it seems like it may have been sitting out for a day or two. This lack of consistency is concerning.
The service is also hit or miss. Despite being a frequent customer, I'm rarely greeted with warmth or recognition, which is surprising and a bit disheartening. It’s clear that additional training in customer service would be beneficial for the staff.
I’ve had conversations with a few of my co-workers who have shared similar experiences. One day the food tastes fresh, the next day it doesn’t. Given that consistency is something fully within their control, I really hope Jerk Hut can address these issues because when the food is good, it's really good—but when it’s off, it’s frustrating.

First off: The food quality is good/almost great! I can't knock that and I wont knock that. I give that a 4/5
My 3 stars is because:
1: the listing is misleading, THIS IS NOT A RESTUARANT, THE INDOOR RESTAURANT IS A DIFFERENT LOCATION. This is a simple food truck parked in a parking lot in Downtown Tampa. And honestly I felt a bit mis-lead by that.
2: While the food is good (again I won't knock that). I felt like I mostly got a plate full of rice, a little bitty pocket of cabbage, and whatever meat you want. I got the 1/2 Jerk chicken, which was a whole $15. If I known that I would have asked for half rice and half veggies (like I always used to do when I order Jamaican food), but its been a long time and I forgot that's how it is).
Once again, my score is based on inconveniencing technicalities, and not the food quality itself. The food is good/arguably great!

This is a food truck so I’m not sure I can give stars for atmosphere but it is quick service and good food at a decent price.
What in a few minutes I was there is so many guests get takeout (only option). They do give you a good size portion of food that you can probably eat twice.
I went there for the patties, but they did not have any so I was a bit disappointed. If you’re looking for something in particular, I would recommend calling ahead to make sure they have it.

I got food from here through the Too Good to Go app (which allows restaurants to sell leftovers or extra food at the end of the day for discounted prices), and boy was I surprised by the heft of the box, the fact that it was warm and tasted still fresh even at the end of the day. I got a box filled to the brim with jerk chicken and delicious sweet plantain plus a small box of mac and cheese for only $6! I’m only in Tampa for a few days, but I’ve already scrapped all plans to visit anywhere else, and plan to come back to this place.
I placed an order with Jerk Hut Restaurant on June 8, 2024 through Door Dash. The original order included three items, but only one was delivered, the jerk platter. The restaurant only issued the refund for the macaroni and cheese, not the oxtail. (I was told that neither was available AFTER I had already paid and my driver had come to pick up the order.) In a nutshell, I paid for oxtail I never received. So disappointing!

Of you like your food pre-made and then heated with a Microwave go for it. I was utterly disgusted that the meat was rough and then to see that it was heated up in the microwave before it was served for a food truck is crazy to me. Will not eat here ever again

Rebekah helped me put together a meal without meat and it was the perfect FAST lunch! The Red sauce is so good I’m about to drive to the main restaurant to buy a bottle of and gift it, testament to how tasty this place is. I see myself stopping by here all the time when I’m close and probably going well out of my way for the plantains, can’t beat dipping those in the red sauce. Thank you! P.S. don’t forget to try the Ting soda, trust me

Ordered of Uber Eats . Glad I did! Food was hot. Got dark meat Jerk Chicken with beans and rice, macaroni and cheese, and cabbage. Everything was fantastic. I just wish the chicken was spicier, but I like excessive spice. I'm in town for two more days and I will probably order again. Thank you so much Jerk Hut. You are a Hidden Gem in Tampa!
