Our family went to this bakery during our family vacation August 2023. My husband researched this location months before to try out hand on some local/historical cuisine. When we arrived the staff were welcoming and helped us decide our food choice. We all had sandwiches which tasted amazing on the homemade bread baked fresh daily. The desserts were delightful. I had the guava cheese turnover style dessert that brought me back to my summers visiting family in Barbados. If you’re ever in Ybor City, please check them out! Food is good, people tan bueno y el comida es deliciosa.

Where do l start??? Let’s not call this place La Segunda, let’s call it “The Second”! We are very disappointed with the Saint Petersburg location. Not an original Cuban bakery. Unfortunately, this location will do well only because they are catering to a higher income clientele, to perhaps people that has not tasted real Cuban cuisine before, therefore they believe the food here is original and tasty. The food is made with less seasoning than what the actual Cuban cuisine would have, to again cater to the surrounding area clientele. This particular location serves a so called “Cuban” sandwich, which is not to the standard of an authentic one. FYI, if you don’t see too many Cuban eating in a Cuban restaurant, there’s a reason. For example in this location; they use pulled pork and not well seasoned, this should have been sliced roasted pork with lots of Cuban seasonings, they use thin slices of ham, this should have been thicker chopped baked ham, it has salami… by the way…real Cuban sandwiches DO NOT have salami, although some believe they do. The Swiss cheese was okay, they used hamburger pickles instead of horizontally thin sliced pickles. Mayo and mustard was okay… well, you can’t mess that up I guess. The real disappointment was the way the sandwich bread came out… it felt like it was put in the microwave to melt the cheese faster and then heat up somewhat in the sandwich press. Not like a real Cuban sandwich should have been, which is harder on the outside and toasty. By the way, they make their own bread! The Media Noche sandwich… well, just imagine? Have you ever seen or tasted an over size sweet hotdog bun? And their pastries… Not even close… Website pics of sandwiches are very deceiving… Oh well, welcome to the neighborhood!

Parking is limited but there is on street parking all around the bakery but just watch the signs. I would recommend going early or ordering online. We got there at 10 and there were 4 other folks in line before us BUT it took :30 minutes to get one egg sandwich. After you a wonderful and very friendly, young woman takes your order (no complaint on how nice everyone that works there) another woman will help you with your cookie order (I got a 1/4 pound assortment- butter cookie, wedding cookie, Florentine, etc). Then we waited for our egg sandwich for about :30. And there were LOTS of people that crammed in while we waited. If you are nervous about the new Covid, wear a mask and order online. There were a few older folks with masks. We ate in the car and I will say it was tasty! Crunchy, with tomato, avocado and egg and hot!!!! Almost worth the wait! I’ll order ahead next time and there was a bit of chaos, which line to wait in, folks cutting the line, almost getting into a fight in front of us. Perhaps they should have a greeter helping folks when they arrive? Just a thought. So nice that it is 100 years in the making but just a few adjustments to make it nicer for those that are new.

Stopped into this place before heading to the airport. Yum, great sandwiches and amazing baked goods. My wife and I split the Cubano and Muffaketta. Both were great but the Muffaketta won out. We selected a quarter pound of sweets and especially liked the ginger sugar drops. There was a huge selection of baked items to choose from, yum. We will be back.

What happened to this place?! The Cuban bread WAS the best! Pastries were fresh. NONE of that holds true anymore. The bread is rubbery, not Cuban bread at all. Pastries were stale. NEVER going back!

Went twice, shared 9 in. Cuban sandwich both times. Also got pastries for later. Pastries and desserts varied some one the days we were there. The Cuban was the best ever. Creme horn, decorated Easter cookie and cherry cheese danish very good. The donut was ok. As others have said no dining on premises at this location Carry out only.

My tastebuds were firing just walking up to the front doors thanks to the smell of fresh baked bread! La Segunda is the supplier of Cuban bread to many local restaurants, and they make one of the best Cuban sandwiches around! I love Cuban sandwiches, and had been searching to get them for my family to try and they LOVED them! They thought they were so delicious they ate them all gone! (That's saying something, because it never happens!) Ordering was easy with walk up counter, helpful and friendly staff. It's an historic building with photos and original ambiance inside. Not only did we get sandwiches, but we had so many exceptionally delicious pastries and treats we were stuffed!!! FYI, Parking is limited so you might need to park on the street. No seating on lo We ordered: Cuban Sandwich Pineapple Upside down cake Boston Cream Cherry berry claw Strawberry shortcake 1/4 pound cookies Oatmeal Raisin cookie

Just a few blocks off of the freeway this bakery was filled with life. Everything was delicious. The busy takeout business created a short and colorful line. The menu is easy to read, over the counter where ordering only a few things is all too easy. Everyone from the cashier to though cook, the expos and even the other customers were all happy to be there. It had a vibe. We grabbed our picnic and headed to the beach, so I was happy too. The traditional Cuban bread is not gluten free. The juicy chicken, garlicky Cesar dressing and Romain sandwiches on the long flat crusty bun was Devine (see photo) humbly wrapped in deli paper & placed into a brown paper bag. Very little waste & a great value! Kids had: 1. cold turkey & cheese & 2. a breakfast egg & bacon sub, We got a pic of desserts too. If you are in the area —just go.

Wonderful sandwiches. Liked that we could choose to have it heated. Just wish there were some picnic tables nearby.

Best Cuban So Far. We were told how amazing this place was and we finally got up that way after living here for a few years and I regret not getting there sooner. The bread the meats the toppings are as fresh as could be. Their secret sauce compliments it perfectly. I could go on and on about why this is the best Cuban in Tampa but you should just come try it for yourself.

This bakery supplies the best Cuban bread in Florida to half the Spanish restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. They also make the best Cuban sandwich I have ever eaten. The Cafe Con Leche is also very good. This business has been open since 1915 for good reason.

Wow. Fantastic. Pastry’s that are light and crispy and sandwiches to die for. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend heading to this place to grab a few sandwiches and pastries to go!

I have eaten la segunda many times as a Tampa local, but today is the second time that they didn't have my order ready after calling it in. I called in and was told that my order would be ready in 15 minutes, when I arrived, it was not ready and I had to wait an additional 15 minutes for them to tell me that they didn't have my order in the system. They told me that they would start making the sandwich and it would be another 15-20 minutes, at this point I didn't have time for my lunch break. I have also had this happen from putting in an order online through their online system. So please have time when you decide to go.

When visiting the Tampa area Le Segunda Bakery is our "go to place" for the best Cuban sandwiches this side of Miami. The staff are great and always friendly but most of all, the sandwiches and baked goodies are the best. They have table seating indoors and outside and the store is always clean. Looking forward to our next visit. Keep up the great work.
