Stumbled upon this place by accident. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The food was so-so but somehow very expensive? I had the sweet potato tacos and guacamole with chips. The place was also very loud and crowded by the time I left at 6pm. Later I found out it was a Michelin restaurant, which honestly felt like a shock.
If I could give Lauren and this establishment 10+ stars I would. I frequently come back because of the impeccable service I receive here. Consistently. Everytime. The food is awesome too yes, but I specifically made this a weekly staple of mine because of the consistent attention and accommodations I get here. If I want a drink, with extra tajin, spicy and whatever the hell else I ask for. It's done and done extremely well. Highly recommend getting the Blue-fin tuna bowl. Best I've had in awhile. Run here.... and make sure Lauren is your bartender.
Cute place, The food was very unique & tasty, good cocktails, and service was very good as well. Go!
We came to Tampa one evening for a concert. We wanted to eat some good Tampa food, so we browsed the Michelin Guide and found this awesome looking taco place. So we loaded up, made the trip, and arrived for a great meal.
Ambiance was excellent. Small and cozy, with lots of traditional Mexican decor all around. There was a lovely little bar that overlooks the open kitchen, really making the place feel very spacious. There were also sacks of different colored corn everywhere, imported from Mexico. Very cool.
Service was very good, too. A nice fella who was very attentive. Kept our glasses full. And the food came out very promptly, too. No complaints at all about service.
I also want to give a nice shoutout to the restaurant for having a nice little non-alcoholic drink menu. They were out of the Chocolate Horchata, but I did enjoy the very delicious Guava Horchata (rice milk, sweetened condensed milk, Mexican vanilla).
Onto the food. Man, we really pigged out here.
Started off with the Chips & Dips Sampler (guacamole, borracha salsa, queso flameado). Wow. Talk about elevating chips and dips. The chips are hearty and felt homemade. The guac was thicc and chunky, awesome. The Salsa was way beyond that bland free stuff you get elsewhere. And the queso was perfect, too. Don't skip over this app. It was amazing.
We went onto the tacos next.
First, the Flour Brisket Tacos (crispy cheese, puerco bean, cilantro, onion, almond / pecan salsa macha). Wow! Crispy cheese cooked right into the tortilla, fresh cilantro and onion, and the star of the show, that unbelievable almond/pecan salsa macha. That texture and that nuttiness set off the brisket absolutely perfectly.
Then we went a little veggie, to the Sweet Potato Stone Ground Heirloom Corn Tacos (scallion goat cheese, pomegranate, jalapeño, sesame macha glaze). Believe it or not, this one was better than the brisket tacos. Tangy goat, tangy pom, heat from the jala, and that unique dept of the sesame, really made that perfectly cooked sweet potato sing. Wow. I wanted to order more of these.
I don't see it on the menu anymore, which I like, because a seasonal/rotating menu is best, I think. But it was a crab and mango tostada with a delicious fruity cream cheese base and the crispiest, most perfect blue corn tortilla you've ever seen in your life. So good.
We finished off with the Seasonal Tres Leches Cake (blueberry, mango, elderflower whipped cream, elderberry powder), which was expertly saturated and accompanied by the real fruit, not artificial syrups, which allowed the fruit flavor to be a part of the party, but not overwhelm it. Lovely.
Overall, this place was lovely. Ignorant people knock the Michelin Guide, but those people need to get a life. The Guide led me here, and I had one of the best taco meals of my life.
Got the tacos fresh Togo. They fell apart and the steak is extremely tough. Definitely not worth $43 for 3 sets of tacos. Very disappointing. Taco Bell is better. Don’t waste your money.
Not a place for kids don’t both bringing them, food was so so. No regular sweet tea or lemonade or fountain drinks. They didn’t greet us for like 10 minutes and never brought our tea.
The food was great, the atmosphere was jumping too. We really enjoyed the experience. Bit of a wait on the weekend but still 5 stars easily.
I went with my friend who was in town from Atlanta, and we had such a great experience. I ordered a Margarita, my friend ordered an Espresso Martini, and they were both perfectly made. For our meal, we shared the Grouper Tacos and the Nachos. The Grouper Tacos stole the show, hands down! They were delicious; one of the best Grouper tacos I’ve ever had! They’re lightly fried, but you couldn't tell by the way they just melt in your mouth! So good! The staff was great, and the vibe was so chill and comfortable. I’ll definitely be back!
Not bad, small portions were the complaint among my friends, tough steak was hard to eat. Super annoying loud.
Went here for lunch and even though the service was exceptional the entire time we were there, I just dont think I can justify returning. I do enjoy the vibes theyre going for, but the location is somewhat difficult to get into and we didnt even go during a peak time.
We didnt look at the menu before going here and that turned out to be a mistake. The prices here are pretty high to be honest. They ask $12 for an order of two chicken tacos (more if you want steak or seafood), and theyre the street taco sizes. Most places in the area charge around $3 or $4 each for that size. Funny enough, most of their APPETIZERS are priced around that range too. Guac and chips (which are just whole tostadas stuck into the guac) are $11. And they want to charge $20 for a trio (chips w/salsa, guac and queso) which legitimately made me laugh. I dont mind paying a bit extra for great food, but to me, the quality of the food we did get didnt live up to the price they ask for it.
We ended up ordering the guacamole and for that price, you get maybe a cup of guacamole and there were many large, unmashed pieces of whole avocado in it still. We also decided to go with the Streetlight Nachos as well, which were honestly much better, but even the chicken in there (which was a $4 upcharge from the original price) was pretty dry and bland. I dont know if it was because it wasnt peak lunch/dinner time or what, but we were disappointed and when we realized that ordering two appetizers was $30, we decided to leave it at that.
For my money, there are much better and more authentic Mexican places to go for a meal anywhere else in Tampa.

This place is proof that you don't need to be extravagant to attract Michelin's attention. Casual vibe, simple menu, but extremely well executed with an attentive wait staff make this restaurant a must visit.

Let me say the tacos (carnitas and grouper) were delicious and so were the margaritas. However they miss the mark with consistency. Previously the grouper was served hot and plentiful. Last night, both orders were cold with tiny pieces of fish. Mine was replaced however my partners was not. Also our bill was incorrect.

This place was pretty amazing. The restaurant looks nice and clean on the inside. I loved the qr codes for food orders. It was fun and easy. The presentation was nice also.
Shrimp 9.75/10 best shrimp tacos I've ever had. I only wish the tortilla was corn
Brisket 9.5/10 this was the star!!! Big helpings of brisket. This was a messy and juicy taco. Flavor was amazing
Asada 9.2/10 nothing to be mad at except they only have two per order. The meat was cooked well
Carnitas 4.5/10 The flavor drop off from the other tacos to this one was disappointing. If the shrimp tacos are the peak these carnitas are deep in the valley. They were dry and lacked flavor.

The tacos were decent. I didn't care for the beans very much. They put a topping on the beans, and i just don't think that's it. Their rice howeverbis fabulous. Probably thw best rice I've ever had.
