My husband and I were looking forward to eating here. While putting my name in, the hostess/owner was !extremely! rude when asked a simple question about seating. I have no interest in spending my money where owners don’t appreciate their patrons. There are many other charming restaurants in Venice to choose from.

I’ve eaten here before and had a great time but this evening was far beyond disappointing. We were initially told that there would be no wait for eating outside and there were plenty of tables outside available. Despite this, we waited over half an hour, and I went to see the hostess on four separate occasions. After my third visit to the hostess, she brought us menus and silverware and told us the waiter would be right out to see us. There was another waitress serving a table near us, but she did not acknowledge or ask us if we needed anything. When the waiter finally came out to our table we asked him what happened and why we have been forgotten. He was very rude, and basically told us if we didn’t like it “we were free to leave”. Based on his attitude I had no confidence that we would have an enjoyable meal so we decided to leave. One other thing to note none of the staff or patrons were wearing masks, in the inside of the restaurant was quite crowded. This is one of the reasons we preferred to sit outside.

This is a local favorite located just off the main shopping area. It offers secluded outside dining with tables surrounded by lush vegetation. This is real Italian dining and the food is superb. The service is excellent and the prices reasonable. The menu is pure northern Italy. And the owner is always there to lend hands-on perfection. You really need to go early -- they open at 4 -- because by six, the place is jammed. The antipasto salad is out of this world. And the pizza is New York style tasty. This is our favorite restaurant by far in Venice.

We arrived at 5:45, finally seated at 6:30... there were tables visibly available, yet the owner/hostess was too busy fluttering about seemingly to purposely make us continue to wait. Not sure if we will return, the food and other staff are fabulous.

Huge portions of food, calzone is enormous, loaded with cheese and meats. Only accept cash. We were there during the pandemic and no one was wearing a mask, tables were not 6 feet apart. Very disappointing for that reason, but the food was plentiful and delicious.

stopped in during the beginning of the pandemic. thought we could eat outside as it was lunch time. Upon entering found nobody in the entire restaurant except us! Yay! usually have LONG waits for Lunas. Wanted to go light as they usually give large amounts of food, so we ordered the mussels in tomato sauce. OMG they are the BEST Ive ever had. We enjoyed that lunch more than any other. lol By the time we left there were a couple of tables of people but we were definitely spaced apart. If not I would not have been in there. My only negative was the owner who I really like make some sarcastic remark about the pandemic which I thought was really inappropriate.. So so good though

Waited AN HOUR for our food. Two ordered veal and said it was chewy and gristly. I had a veal sub. Veal was overdone and roll was toasted so much, it crumbled. My daughter liked hers and the portion was huge.

Today's review: We've been to this restaurant many times in the past and my previous (4-star) review was based upon the taste and portionsof the food. Certainly not the cleanliness or the service. We love going to this place and we make it one of our first stops when we arrive here each winter. This time, is completely different. They are completely thoughtless with regards to the pandemic and the health of their customers. No sanitizer available, not even an attempt at social distancing, and not 1 staff member including the owner were wearing a mask. The (bare-faced) waiter walked right up to our table, leaned in nice and close and asked to take my order. When I asked him to take a step back, he gave "The Face" and treated me like I was the crazy one. Obviously, here they believe it's all a hoax. If they can't be careful during a pandemic, I can only imagine what the kitchen hygienic practices are like in normal times. Absolutely disgraceful. We will never step foot in this place again. ORIGINAL REVIEW (2018): Luna is a great place to enjoy dinner with a group or just the 2 of you. The food is served family style with huge portions in large bowls or platters. One plate of anything is plenty for 2 adults. But most of my friends order one main course each, share, and still take home plenty of leftovers. The sauces are very authentic and delicious, and your dinner always begins with freshly baked bread. Leave the plastic at home though, because they only accept cash or check (cheque). My favourite is any pasta dish with the "Mario" sauce. The only reasons I don't give 5 stars is that they are so busy that there is often a bit of a wait to get your food, and the wooden table tops are old and often a little sticky. The owner is kinda grumpy too.

I love this restaurant. We have been here many, many times. Luna is a casual restaurant, the owners float around and converse with the diners, the wait staff treats diners as if they were in their own houses. Giant, family style portions; most entrees can serve three. Their menu is vast yet easy to navigate; certainly something for every palate. There is no better word than “delicious” for their home made bread. If you want great Italian food, go here; a lot of good food at a good price.

We have been here years ago and came back to try again! It was a big mistske! We all ordered a hot sub from their menu. 3 meatballs and a chicken parm. The chicken parm was passable but skimpy. Not enough chicken to fill the roll. The meatball subs were awful. Could have used each of our meatballs for hockey pucks or doorstops! Not enough sauce and little cheese. Very dry. On the bright side: service was excellent and drinks are a good pour!

The staff refuses to wear masks, thus threatening the well being of their patrons. Appalling!!!!! I called the owner to express my concerns, and all she had to say was, “it’s not required!!!!

Every time we eat here, they seat us within a matter of seconds. We love Sam! She makes the entire experience herself. The food has never been bad! The best italian in the state! Amazing waiters, and amazing atmosphere!

Awesome dinner with friends. Our waitress kept us well served and entertained throughout dinner. The portions were more than enough even when split. Would recommend this place without reservation!
