There are so few true bakeries anymore. This is one of them. Breads of all sorts, scones, cookies, coffee and other delicious goodies. I got a lemon hazlenut scone...big and so delicious!

From the "do it the right way" legacy of its founder to the skillful craftsmanship of its new owner who's added his own flair, Independent Baking Company is a must stop if you're passing through Athens (or lucky enough to live close by). Suggested by a friend to get really great "home made" breads. We stopped and purchased several loaves including 2 baguettes which barely made it home as the smell was overwhelming and we were drooling! OMG, went back 2 days later for more!

Odd experience. I asked for a batard and got a burned whole wheat loaf. Then I asked for two chocolate croissants and he said I couldn’t buy them because they were selling them at the farmers market. Really?

I wanted to get fresh biscotti for a gift and this place didn't disappoint! The smell when you walk in is just pure bliss! The customer service was very good. The bread is awesome and the scones are too!

All the bread is baked with love and French style. I bought multiple breads and pastries and was not disappointed with any. The peach and fig danish are a must try. Their brioche bread is so rich you can eat it on its own with out any spread.
