Dark and vibey. Red lights at the bar and the tv showed a vampire movie. Ordered loaded fries with bbq pork, cheese and Alabama white sauce. Really rich but very good. The frozen hurricane was boozy but not too sweet. Service was standard.

Fantastic neighborhood spot with reliably tasty food, great service, and always good vibes. My husband and I have been here several times, and during one visit, we got to chat with the owner, who was super friendly! Try their crispy pork banh mi sandwich, you won't regret it!

highlights: pulled pork & pitmaster fries the tofu banh mi was just okay, it was the only vegetarian option that wasn't $20 but i'd rather order the cheese pitmaster fries next time. also the mac & cheese and greens were weirdly sweet

Food was alright. Vibe was cool! They did not have sauce on the table or offer it at any point, which feels wild for a bbq spot. Server was not around often.

Eclectic atmosphere, friendly service, delicious food. We sat at the bar on a Friday night and the service was attentive and quick. The frozen cream slush drink is phenomenal. They’ve got a nice beer list, my only knock is that I wish they had something on draft. The food was so good I didn’t mind drinking canned beer. I had the brisket Philly sandwich - meat was cooked well, perfect amount of cheese, and the bread was soft enough that it didn’t collapse but it wasn’t too hard to cut up the roof of your mouth. My wife also loved her pork banh mi. After we ate we both said we wanted to come back to try the rest of the menu. Gene’s is officially on our ATL restaurant return to list to

The decor and atmosphere is amazing along with their super attentive and quick service. My cocktail was fantastic (whisky smash, I think) and I enjoyed the food overall. My favorite was the mac and cheese. I just wish everything was a lot warmer/hotter.
