It was advertised as James Beard twice nominated, travel-inspired provisions, upscale Southern fusion cuisine. I can see why it didn’t win. I could cook better southern fusion. In fact, I’ve had it done better several times: The Appalachian in TN, the Pakalachian in VA, Kultura Charleston in SC. Collard green ramen: potlikker dash, peppered pork belly, soy eggs, nori, kimchi, scallions, sesame seeds. The ramen tasted fine and was better than the ribs but was kind of weird...
One Flew South is truly an exceptional restaurant with a modern atmosphere and excellent service. The sushi and seafood dishes stand out, being fresh and creatively prepared. The vibe is relaxed, and the wine and cocktail list is impressive. While prices are on the higher side, the quality and overall experience make it well worth it.
Let's start with the service. Phenomenal.
Usually I have a go to drink but I wanted to try something new. The bartenders were REAL! bartenders. Whipped me up a couple great drinks based on what my taste profile asks. Great conversation too.
I had the devils eggs & the Mushroom gnocchi.
