First time here celebrating my Mom’s birthday and food was great but service was not. The hostess was very sweet and welcoming, but our server Risa, wasn’t. The food came out very fast and was delicious. Definitely a more shareable plates dining experience, so things will add up, but no complaints! There are also many pretty photo opportunities too! Our server Risa was attentive, but not welcoming at all. I’m not sure if she was having a bad day, but she sure seemed unhappy. She definitely acknowledged my Mom’s birthday and we received a free dessert which was very nice. However, her cold and short personality made this day a little less special.

Had dinner tonight at Ruby Chows. To say I was unimpressed is an understatement. Our server Crystal was abysmal. Absolutely no personality whatsoever. Didn't ask if we'd ever been there. Didn't make any suggestions. None of the staff dropping off the small plates of food told us what the plates were, let alone described anything. Crystal forgot to put in 3 separate dishes. Never once did she ask me if I wanted a drink refill. Best part was we were there on a reservation that clearly stated it was our friends birthday. When she asked if we wanted dessert, my friends mom gave her a wink so as to indicate there was a note on the reservation alerting her of the bday. Clearly, the hostess did not relay that info. Crystal was so clueless she didn't pick up the hint, and the mom had to say at the table, "It's my son's birthday, and it's already been ordered." Completely Completely clueless. Took her like 20 minutes to get us the check following that. I was trying to give my credit card to split the bill, and Crystal made that awkward as well. Seriously, who trained this girl?? Who manages this place? Now that I'm home, I just got a message on venmo from Vaughn Monroe telling me I didn't pay him enough of a tip for valet. How much WAS the valet parking you ask?? Good question. It doesn't say that anywhere, nor did he say how much it was. Did I not pay enough? I have no idea. Horrible experience from beginning till, actually, well after the end. I will say, at least the overpriced food was decent. Also, cute decore, so maybe at least there is that? I would not recommend at all. Seriously, they need to work on basic basic basic service skills.

R Travels (I Hired Me)

I recently dined at Ruby Chow’s and unfortunately, had a mixed experience. The ambiance is beautiful—definitely a spot that impresses visually. However, the food was just average, lacking the flavor or creativity that would make it memorable.

The biggest issue for me was the misleading information about parking. I called ahead and heard on their voicemail that they validate parking. However, after arriving, I learned from the waitress that this isn’t true; apparently, other guests have asked the same question only to be disappointed. This experience made an already average meal feel frustrating, especially given the limited parking options nearby.

In short, while Ruby Chow’s may be visually appealing, it’s not worth the hassle of finding parking, especially when they’re not straightforward about it. I won’t be returning.

Parking: Lied about validating parking!

OMG! Get everything!!! The shaking beef, the katzu steam bun, and pot au cream; and also the pork belly and grits and cacio e pepe and pow pow shrimp. Every dish was a mouth-watering journey for my tastebuds!!! Definitely can't go wrong here!

In order of what tasted best:
Peking Duck Bun
Katsu Bun
Roti Canai
Ginger Salad
Bone Marrow
Fried Oysters
Shaking Beef

The Shaking Beef was over cooked, but the glaze they used was tasty. The Fried Oysters were very over powered by the batter used, but overall was okay. I wasn't a fan of the Bone Marrow at all, but my partner liked it very much. Ginger-Carrot salad was refreshing, and helped balance out the meal. The Roti Canai was delicious, the Roti is fluffy and denser and the curry is a bit more spiced with cinnamon than I've had before. Still yummy. The winners were the Peking Duck and Katsu Boa.

Our waitress was nice, but in the hustle of the environment she did try to remove plates 2x that we are still actively eating.

Dietary restrictions: Our server did ask if we had any restrictions that she should know about before we ordered.

Parking: Valet is $5. Otherwise, if you can find any street parking. Super easy valet experience though.

Kid-friendliness: I would not recommend for children.

Wheelchair accessibility: Very tight and busy space inside. From the valet, there are stairs but option of down-hill incline. There is also outdoor seating.

AYANNA WAS VERY PLEASENT. HER SMILE WAS BECOMING. SHE IS A JEWEL TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. HER DRINKS WERE CRAFTED AWESOMELY AND HER SUGGESTIONS FOR DRINKS WERE SPOT ON. WE LIVE ACROSS THE STREET AND WE WILL BE BACK SOON. GOOD JOB AYANNNA!

Quaint, affordable, and fun-to-eat Asian Fusion food (not authentic). Bartender is super nice.
The soft boiled egg dish feels like home in a bowl, so simple and comforting.

One of my all time favorites in Atlanta. As someone from the Bay Area I always loved seeing upscale Asian fusion restaurants. Loved it so much that I chose it as the spot to host my wedding rehearsal dinner. Very delicious dishes with a fine dining twist, and the cocktails are fabulous. May I say innovative recipes too? The whole place has a speakeasy vibe that looks humbled on the outside but is so fun and quirky inside.
