The food was very good. The atmosphere was calming and the songs from the bar above made the night fun.
Though I have enjoyed the Sun Dial in the past, it didn't carry the overall mystique it once did. The food was grossly overpriced and just not exemplary of the price point. The servers stayed busy but my waitress was OK. Seems as if the dining experience has some catching up to do with the expectations that come with being in a quality location.
This is an iconic restaurant at Atlanta and I felt compelled to take my wife since we were staying at the Westin Peachtree Hotel. The service was very good and the food was fair. Have I had better food elsewhere - absolutely. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and raining so the view which you are really going to the Sundial to experience was not the best. That said, even with a view, the value for this restaurant was only fair. For the price, the ambiance and the food was not equal to outlay. If you never have been, it is iconic but sans the view, there are much better restaurants.
A child DIED Lecory—or whatever his name is—completely killed the vibe by bringing up that a kid died. That's why the energy shifted and things stopped flowing. Please talk to him, because ever since his head got stuck between the glass, the room hasn't rotated the since
Sun Dial is a lovely place, but it's a shame that it no longer rotates. The food was good, but overpriced for the limited selection available. It was cloudy, so there was no sunset to view, although the weather provided a light show (lightning). It was noisy due to the observation deck being right above the dining area - lots of very loud chatter. We have also not dined at an establishment with a required entree purchase. We were fortunate that the limited menu had items that we both would enjoy. My husband only eats fish, and most of the dishes had meat. Service was great until we were ready to go - unfortunately, it seemed like our server forgot to drop the check after dessert was done, and we were finished - we sat for more than 10 minutes waiting for our bill. We will come again to observe and sit at the bar for another sunset! (Hopefully)
My wife and I visited the Sun Dial 14 years ago. We truly enjoyed the experience, including the rotating view of the restaurant setting at the top of the hotel. We returned this we for the same experience to celebrate our 9th anniversary. The food and service were outstanding. The only thing missing was the rotating view we enjoyed the 1st time. We were told they stopped the restaurant rotation 8 years ago. Everything else was great!
The draw was the great view. The food and drink was a pleasant surprise. It was tasty and thoughtful plated. Service was terrific. This was a nice venue for date night.
My date and I visited The Sun Dial this past Thursday evening, and we had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Our server, whose name I believe was Michael, was incredible! He was well-spoken, sociable, and attentive. The food was absolutely amazing. The she crab soup was rich and flavorful, easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The calamari was cooked perfectly, and the salmon was delicious. I also tried a bite of my date’s duck (my first time trying duck), and it was so flavorful and tender, I was impressed. We also ordered a crab cake with aioli, which was another hit. Honestly, every bite had me saying, “Wow, this is so good.” Even the bread was baked to perfection. My date ordered a lemonade that was specially flavored by the chef and it was so refreshing, he ended up having three glasses! I had the sweet tea, also crafted by the chef, and it tasted like candy in the best way: sweet, rich, and unique. Our reservation timing was perfect, allowing us to enjoy a stunning mix of sunset and city lights. The entire evening was such a wonderful experience. Thank you for having us and thank you Michael for serving us and everyone that made sure we had an enjoyable time from the moment we got there!
While the view was nice and the elevator ride was unique, the food was not near the quality I would expect for the price point. We spent $218 for overcooked steak and small portions. The atmosphere was very dated too, I felt like I was in a cheap hotel restaurant. Our waiter was kind though so that added to our experience!
My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary, and from the moment we walked in, we were made to feel genuinely welcomed. The entire staff went out of their way to make the night special, and the attention to detail didn't go unnoticed. From the vibe to the food to the thoughtful touches to our celebration, everything was on point. Highly recommend for any special occasion—or honestly, any time you just want damn good service and food. We'll definitely be back!

Out reservation was at 8:15p. We didn't get our dinner until 9:40p. It didn't appear to be super busy so not sure why it took so long. Probably will not be returning.
Food took almost an hour from ordering. View was great. Overpriced for a non rotating restaurant.
Celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at the restaurant enjoying the view. We had a wonderful evening laughing and staring out over the city, capped with some of the best food we've ever eaten. The complimentary bread and an order of the foie gras for our starter didn't disappoint. I had the seared sea bass, my wife had the filet, and we shared the whipped potatoes and truffle mac. The sea bass and steak were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing the sides were phenomenal as well. We finished our night the perfect way with the strawberry lemon creme brulee, and the blueberry lemon sponge cake. Definitely worth the price tag for special occasions.
Our experience was ruined by what we were informed was issues with kitchen equipment. I returned my steak and mac and cheese and requested no charge as it was old/cold/disappointing. Our server was amazing. Manager offered us a desert to go and we opted for a pecan treat. He returned with a treat topped with ice cream in a cardboard box. I made my confusion known to our amazing waitress, Mimi and left it on the table. I won't be dining here again. I waited my entire adult life for this experience as a first time visitor, it did not live up to any of my expectations. Who's at fault? I honestly don't that any one was. I do however feel that sitting for 1.5hrs waiting without any communication is unacceptable. It was only after I overheard a conversation with another patron and my inquisition were we told anything. I don't conduct business that way or I would be out of business. That's all. Just communicate to us and allow us to make our own informed opinion. I settled on pork rinds for dinner. Pork rinds. . . .
I love this place! My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner. The views are phenomenal. The sunset painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, creating a breathtaking backdrop for our meal. We couldn't help but take a few photos to capture the moment. The ambiance was perfect, with soft music playing in the background, enhancing the romantic atmosphere. As we sipped our wine, we both agreed that this was one of our best dining experiences yet.
