The James room 0/ 10.
The James room needs serious improvement.
A group of girlfriends and I linked up on a Wednesday night to celebrate.
While the establishment has a very dark and clean esthetic the cracks began to show as the night progressed.

Fire the hostess Emerald. We had a 7:15 booking (booked days prior) and I received a message at 6:21 and a phone call at 6:19 that they needed to push us back to 9PM because they had a private event and the space was bought out… We were already on the way. Emerald had a horrible attitude with me on the phone when I called back at 6:44. The James Room is a beltline speakeasy with different DJs and themes each night. It offers delicious cocktails, albeit pricey, and has a lively, sexy, and grown atmosphere. The ambiance inside is darker and louder, creating an exclusive lounge vibe that is perfect for a night out with friends or a date. The interior features cute decor and a sound system where the music isn’t too loud, making conversations easy and enjoyable. The place is often packed, and service can be slow, with a wait to be seated, but the staff, including a friendly bartender and accommodating host, do their best to provide good service even when busy. The bartender, Marques, is charming and knowledgeable, adding to the welcoming vibe. Guests praise the active chef for dishes like the kale salad with salmon and broccoli, which are standout favorites. The DJ’s performances and the music selection enhance the lively atmosphere, making it fun and energetic, especially with everyone dancing and enjoying the environment. Food arrives surprisingly fast, fresh, and delicious, with the Harissa shrimp standing out. The two-hour seating limit can be restrictive, but the good food, drinks such as the Espresso martini and Peach Cobbler, and overall vibe make it worth the visit. The drinks are highly recommended, although some cocktails like the pineapple + rum + something else can be watered down. The vibe is relaxed and mature, mainly attracting people in their 30s and 40s, with smooth hip hop, R&B, and classic music creating a laid-back mood. Recent visits have highlighted some organizational issues, such as reservation mix-ups and staff seeming unsure of procedures, which can lead to confusion and longer waits. Despite these challenges, the staff remains friendly and attentive, and management responds quickly to concerns. Guests appreciate the welcoming attitude of the staff and the interactive chef who adds energy to the room. Overall, The James Room is a hidden gem with vibrant energy, great food, and strong drinks, making it a place many look forward to returning to.
