Overall food was good, tho some things were a little over cooked and the sampler was too pricey for what was received...The staff was friendly and attentive...The only other issue was when it was time to pay, I got the machine to pay with total, without seeing the bill...I had to ask for the bill to actually make sure it was accurate and for tipping purposes...Glad I did cuz gratuity was already included and if I didn't see, I would've tipped more...

I went on a Monday for happy hour. Great deals on the happy hour menu for food, drinks, and hookah. They had r&b bingo which was fun. I ended up winning 2 shots & a free appetizer. All the employees were really nice, and helpful. Will definitely be back when I'm in Atlanta again.

Food was amazing. They took really good care of my party. We were there to celebrate a graduation. Our server Jesus was very good, very attentive.

I went for Mother's Day brunch and the entire experience did not disappoint! The food was amazing and our server, Cali, was on point with everything! Virgil's is definately going to be in regular rotation for my family!

The menu was intriguing with many of my favorites...fried cabbage, Mac n cheese, flounder...all of which I had on the picky eatuhs plate. The flounder was cooked to perfection but everything else was cold...hard to tell if it was good. Montell was very helpful in explaining the menu and all of the staff was quite accommodating.

I stopped in based off TikTok and Insta Reels. So glad I did. I had a blast. The vibe was everything. Miko was my server and she was so interactive. She made recommendations. I listened. I enjoyed. This was my first time but definitely not my last.

I recently dined at Virgil's Gullah and, while the food remains consistently amazing and true to the rich culinary tradition they honor, I feel compelled to share some honest feedback about the overall experience. We arrived on time for our reservation, yet still had to wait over an hour to receive our food. In today's economy, I completely understand the challenges of staffing, but when guests make reservations, there is a reasonable expectation that service will be more efficient. Having a reservation should minimize wait times, not extend them. Additionally, as patrons, it feels a bit disheartening to be immediately given a full disclosure upon seating about having only two hours to dine, the limitations on substitutions, and the automatic 20% gratuity. It sets an almost transactional tone rather than a welcoming one. Substituting sides should feel like a part of hospitality, not something akin to ordering at a fast-food restaurant. And while I understand and respect automatic gratuity policies, I can't help but notice this practice seems far more common at Black-owned establishments, and it can leave an unintended impression if not handled delicately. Despite all of this, the food truly was outstanding—just as it always is. The flavors, the authenticity, the creativity—everything on the plate was excellent. But each time I dine here, I'm reminded why I don't visit as often as I'd like: the service experience unfortunately doesn't match the quality of the food. I'm not writing this to tear down Virgil's or to discourage others from visiting. I'm writing because I believe in the power of constructive feedback. I want to see Virgil's thrive, especially in a competitive market like Atlanta. Great food paired with exceptional service could elevate Virgil's to even greater heights and create an experience that keeps guests returning more frequently and enthusiastically. I truly hope management and ownership continue to invest in refining the service model. Settin

This was our visit to Virgil's. We had a reservation for 6 people. My rating is based on details that matter to me when dining out e.g. sticky & worn menus, smudgy glasses, etc. About the food - presentation was good, food wasn't bad, but it wasn't necessarily anything we would return for. Ambience was good, music was on point though. Overall Virgil's fell a little short for my preference.

What a fantastic experience we had at Virgil's...never had the honor of trying gullah cuisine until now...goodness it was good. 👍 My partner and I elected to order a series of starters rather than a dinner...it clearly gave us a wide selection of their cuisine. So, a sampler platter, fried oysters (orgasmic!), okra gumbo and collard greens came to us piping hot. Plenty of food for two. Gotta say that everything was over the top good...even the collard greens...although historically not my cuppa tea...were great! Oh, their cocktails were to die for...try the Yella Boi...fantastic. Service was wonderful too...kudos to Montel our server.👍 This is authentic soul food in an authentic setting. Highly recommend for sure!

So freaking good! Had the "Plattuh" with catfish. Next time I'll try the flounder. They forgot about me for awhile, but well worth it!

The servers were very nice. The music and the atmosphere were good. I expected the food to be much better. The best part of the food for me was the chicken and cornbread. The sweet potatoes were not completely cooked, the greens were salty, the macaroni and cheese was overcooked. The macaroni look so bad that our server didn't was to serve it. Some of my party complained, but I was just grateful that we were together celebrating my birthday. I think they were short handed. We didn't have to wait long. I will try again.

The server we had was pleasant and accommodating. The food was good, but could have been better only because it came out luke warm. I got the salmon dish. The flavor was there but it was luke warm. I enjoy the bussin muffins.

The brunch menu is just the lunch menu with some eggs on the side. Pork chop was good. Fried chicken was good. But not a brunch place. Server was inattentive despite the place being empty.

From start to finish, our experience at Virgil’s was absolutely amazing! The highlight of our visit was our incredible server, Kortne. He truly went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. His energy was infectious, and he made the whole dining experience feel personal and special. Not only was he attentive and professional, but he also gave us fantastic recommendations that did not disappoint. He engaged us in great conversation and made sure everything was just right. Service like that is rare, and we truly appreciated it!

Now, let’s talk about the food….WOW! Every single dish we tried was bursting with flavor. The After Church Wing Plate was an absolute must-try, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The corn muffins were savory, moist, and had the perfect balance of sweetness. The gumbo was rich, and full of depth, truly comforting in every way. The fried okra was crispy and golden, exactly how it should be. And let me just say, the mac and cheese was hands down the best.

From the warm atmosphere to the outstanding service and unforgettable food, this place is a 10/10 in every way. We will definitely be back, and we highly recommend Virgil’s to anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience in Atlanta. If you visit, make sure to ask for Kortne, he will take great care of you!
