They were so hospitable we stayed there almost 4 hours because it was a meeting type thing, and they were so very patient with us.

If Dahlonega is magical than Picnic Cafe is heavenly, as you overlook the square, you realize they have every soul warming food you can imagine. From delicious fresh sausage gravy biscuits, to cheesecake, to ice cream and many fine delicacies in between. There is no losing here, in fact the only way you lose visiting Dahlonega is if you don’t experience this wonderful place.Wish I could give 1 million stars. It is worth it.

We have gone to many breakfast places here in town, and it wasn't until recently that we came in here. Wow. The food is wonderfully made and well priced for the high quality, more affordable then a couple other nearby breakfast places with much less ambiance and warmth from the staff. The staff is so kind and asks questions about your life. Conversations are had with staff and strangers (if you want that). If not, the view of downtown Dahlonega is unmatched and you can sit and read a book or the paper. The decorations are a mixture of hip nature art and cozy b&b, tastefully dove. I loved the sausage egg and cheese everything bagel and drip coffee. My wife loved the iced Vietnamese coffee. Keep it up Picnic Cafe! You make us feel like part of the neighborhood.

Very expensive for the serving size. GF bread was ok but very small. Side was for the sandwiches was a small handful of broken potato chips. Servers were prompt and polite. Would not recommend for meals. Maybe their desserts are better. But skip for meals. Many better options in the area

Decided on my last day in this cute little town to visit the one cafe that I had not and it was interesting. When I walked in I was the only customer but was not greeted. I was not concerned until shortly after another gentleman came in and he was immediately greeted and a young lady walked over to his table. Well by then my order of a mocha with almond milk was placed. I received my order and paid but once I returned to my hotel I could not distinguish if my coffee had been made with almond milk so I checked my receipt and it was not printed there either so I had no other choice but to throw it away sadly.

Very old-school, local, laid back atmosphere. Love the shorter menu. The desserts truly are soooooo good. Highly recommend the cheesecake.Parking: I parked in a lot a bit away from the square. I could see it getting quite busy on a weekend, making parking a little complicated. I didn't have to pay, but I think I did see paid parking lots as well as off street parking.

There were bugs in the water and the food tasted cheap. The bow tie pasta tasted like paint.

I went to Picnic Cafe with a group of five other girls, and it was a great lunch experience! You walk in and order at the counter. We grabbed a table first and went up three at a time to order, since there weren't enough tables inside to accommodate everyone on a Sunday afternoon. The line was long, but went by pretty quickly. The food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. I got the peach chicken salad, which was a wonderful spin on a classic! I loved the sweetness that the peach added to the savory chicken salad. It came with fruit, which was wonderfully fresh, and a lemon poppyseed muffin, which was tasty but a bit dry. One of my friends got the salad trio with the peach chicken salad, egg salad, and pimiento cheese. She said that all three were great. The toast points that came with it were tasty, as well! My two friends who got the tomato soup definitely made the right choice. It came out steaming hot, and you can tell it was made in-house. I was given a small spoonful, and the flavors were full and perfectly savory. This may be the best thing on the menu. The pastries that we got definitely left a little to be desired; none of them tasted very fresh. This was the only disappointment of our lunch. I'll be back next time I'm in the area!
